Deliver Uncompromising Care as a Pediatric Emergency Medicine Physician in Frederick, Maryland, at Frederick Health Hospital

Join a team committed to uncompromising care and collaboration. As a pediatric emergency medicine physician, you'll work alongside trusted colleagues to deliver exceptional care and help shape outcomes that matter for patients and the community.

Local Team Collaboration:

  • Join our close-knit team of 15 physicians and 20 APPs at Frederick Health Hospital.

  • Work alongside a Clinical Performance nurse. We prioritize the longevity of our clinicians and provide comprehensive ancillary services in the ED, including peer recovery, ED pharmacists, crisis intervention, social work, and case management.

  • For those who like to teach, we work with medical students, APPs, and residents from Shenandoah, Frostburg, and other local programs.

  • Accountable, on-site leadership: a local medical director who knows the community and owns the department's performance, supported by Sound's leadership-development tools.

  • Stable, well-staffed teams: cohesive teams aligned on our patient-first culture of excellence, which means less reliance on premium temp labor and more predictable shifts.

Qualifications:

  • Board certified/board eligible pediatrician with emergency medicine experience.

  • Authorized to work in the United States.

Scheduling:

  • 12-hour shifts for physicians.

  • APPs work a swing shift (variable length based on seasonality).

  • Enjoy a flexible schedule that supports work-life balance.

  • There are part-time or PRN positions available.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for covering 9 beds in the ED and 5 inpatient beds.

  • Annual ED volume is 16K with an average of 3 inpatients to round on per day.

  • Seamless integration with Sound Physicians’ hospitalist, observation, adult EM, and critical care teams for smooth throughput, ensuring a low LWBS rate of less than 3%.

  • We are Magnet-status accredited with fully staffed nursing, ensuring a high standard of care.

  • Cutting-edge facilities include point-of-care ultrasound in the ED, an ED pharmacist, and dedicated ED social work/case management.

Living and Working in Frederick:

  • Frederick isn’t just where we work—it’s where we live and enjoy the perfect blend of history, culture, and modern living. With its charming downtown, beautiful parks, and vibrant arts scene, Frederick offers a unique lifestyle with a strong sense of community. From local festivals and farmers' markets to scenic walking trails and historic sites, Frederick is a place where you can truly feel at home.

  • Engage in our monthly wellness events, where staff and families come together as part of our mental health initiative. Enjoy hikes, meals, sporting events, happy hours, and holiday parties.

Compensation:

  • W2 rates equivalent to $167/hour days; $177/hour nights.
