Full job description

A Snapshot of Your Day

The successful candidate’s role will be responsible for leading all efforts in the US Market related to Synchronous Condenser Sales in Grid Technologies. They will gather market intelligence and develop strategic initiatives in order to grow and maintain Siemens Energy’s market leading position in Synchronous Condensers. They will work in close coordination with other SE teams including other business areas (engineering, tender, PM, procurement etc.) in order to set up the organization for success on syncon projects. Drive increased scope and profitability on projects to bring in opportunities for other Siemens Energy Business areas related to the syncon market.

How You’ll Make an Impact

Business Development:

  • Leads all aspects of development of strategies for profitable penetration into new or existing market segments related to syncons.

  • Leads the development and execution of account plans to ensure achievement of syncon business.

  • Makes presentations to key customers on a technical level as and when required

  • Guides business development within assigned key accounts and/or markets.

  • Develops sponsorship with key decision-makers.

  • Guides procurement & execution to establish strategic partnerships with vendors by early engagement

  • Provides accurate forecasting and data quality via salesforce for they syncon opportunities both internally for resource planning and to our factories for transformers & generators.

  • Engages with R&D based on market development in generation business to develop forward looking portfolio elements

Proposals:

  • Leads internal process for actual proposals and drives both the technical solution as well as the final price

  • Leads the internal approval process for each proposal

  • Leads the presentation of the proposal at the customer meeting

  • Leads the negotiation phase of the proposal by driving Robustness in Siemens Energy’s contracts

  • Supports the tender manager with the handover process of the project to the project team when the project has been awarded

  • Has ability to manage proposals independently from the region without a duplicate role from the Global Facts team.

Employee Development / Engagement:

  • Responsible for training/mentoring other sales managers, defined together with the technical sales head on the syncon market, technology and internal processes of Siemens Energy process.

  • Responsible to coordinate/collaborate with other disciplines in a team centric approach to enhance the syncon knowledge within grid solutions and implement our market strategy.

  • Responsible to be engaged in a collaborative way with the overall facts sales lead & Global head of Facts for FACT’s project strategy & prioritizations.

After Sales

  • Responsible to gather with the team and implement lessons learned on the syncon market and apply them to new proposals.

  • Provides technical/commercial support to the project teams as needed during project execution from experience with syncons and the bid phase.

  • Maintains Customer engagement through life of project via periodic check ins.

What You Bring

  • Bachelors degree or equivalent experience

  • 5 or more years of successful business development or sales experience in at least one of the following fields:

  • Generation Service

  • Synchronous Condenser

  • Power Generation (New Equipment)

  • Large Rotating Equipment for Power Generation for Transmission & Distribution purposes

  • Demonstrated business acumen in balancing customer and business requirements, i.e. financials strategic and tactical thinking etc.

  • Executive level verbal and written communication and presentation skills

  • Inherent ability to work effectively in a team environment and strong desire to win

  • Organization and time management skills to succeed in a fast paced environment

  • Ability to travel up to 40% throughout North America and occasional international travel for customer meetings, site visits, factory visits, conferences, and strategic planning activities
