Job Description

Summary

The Manufacturing Engineer is responsible for the strategic design and optimization of the production environment to ensure maximum efficiency, quality, and scalability. This role focuses on the architectural design of manufacturing processes, the strategic layout of plant facilities, and the development of precise operational sequences. By integrating equipment installation, machining specifications, and material handling strategies, the Manufacturing Engineer ensures that the transition from design to finished product is seamless and optimized for peak productivity.

Roles and Responsibilities

Process & Layout Design

  • Design comprehensive manufacturing processes, detailed procedures, and production layouts for complex assemblies and equipment installation.

  • Engineer the physical arrangement of machinery and workstations within plant facilities to minimize waste and ensure the most efficient and productive workflow.

  • Develop integrated material handling systems to optimize the movement of components and finished goods through the production cycle.

Operational Sequencing & Tooling

  • Design the precise sequence of operations for production, specifying the exact procedures required for the fabrication of tools and specialized equipment.

  • Define technical specifications for tooling and equipment that directly impact product performance and quality standards.

  • Establish standardized work instructions to ensure consistency across machining and processing functions.

Equipment Adaptation & Integration

  • Adapt machine and equipment designs to align with specific factory conditions and actual production environments.

  • Collaborate with equipment vendors and internal design teams to modify hardware or software configurations for better integration into the production line.

  • Evaluate the impact of equipment modifications on overall plant throughput and product integrity.

Continuous Improvement & Optimization

  • Analyze production layouts and process flows to identify bottlenecks and implement design changes that increase capacity.

  • Ensure that all machining and processing procedures are optimized for cost-effectiveness and adherence to engineering tolerances.

Lead the installation and commissioning of new production technology, ensuring seamless integration into existing workflows.

Required Education, Experience, & Skills

  • Skills and Qualifications

  • Bachelor s degree in mechanical engineering, industrial engineering, or related engineering field

  • 2-5 years of experience in manufacturing engineering or related field

  • Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, including assembly, machining, and testing

  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills

  • Strong understanding of lean manufacturing principles and CAD/CAM software

  • Strong communication, collaboration and leadership skills and the ability to manage projects

  • Advanced experience with Microsoft Access, Excel, and PowerPoint

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize tasks effectively

  • Ability to create and maintain required documentation for manufacturing processes, including flow charts, capacity and utilization studies, time and motion studies, standard work, cycle time analysis, and line balancing

Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills

  • Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt certified

  • Lean/Continuous Experience

  • 5 years plus manufacturing experience

  • DOD experience

Pay Information

Full-Time Salary Range: $64935 - $110390

Please note: This range is based on our market pay structures. However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.
