Full job description

Description

Data Lake and Analytics Specialist Solutions Architects are technical contributors who combine solid business understanding with strong technical skills to drive data, analytics, and AI conversations with Healthcare and Life Sciences (HCLS) customers. They work with customers to architect well-designed solutions to complex technical problems, translating business requirements into scalable architectures grounded in AWS best practices. They operate in environments where business objectives may not be fully defined, and they help customers clarify requirements and identify the right technical path forward.

What You Will Do

You will serve as a trusted technical advisor to customer engineering and architecture teams, helping them design and implement data lake, analytics, and semantic layer solutions on AWS. You will lead technical discussions around data platforms, analytics architectures, and AI readiness, and you will be comfortable diving deep into the details of services like S3, Lake Formation, Glue, Redshift, Athena, SageMaker, and Bedrock while also understanding how these fit into a customer's broader data strategy.

You will work closely with account teams, senior SAs, and service teams to deliver high-quality technical engagements. You will own the design and delivery of technical solutions for your assigned customers, ensuring architectures are sound, scalable, and aligned with the customer's business goals. Solutions you deliver should be well-documented and reusable, contributing to a growing library of reference architectures and patterns that other SAs can leverage.

Basic Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in technical pre-sales, consulting, or solutions architecture

  • 3+ years of hands-on experience with data lake, data warehouse, or analytics platforms

  • Experience designing and implementing solutions on AWS or comparable cloud platforms

  • Strong understanding of data modeling, ETL/ELT patterns, and analytics architectures

  • Familiarity with healthcare or life sciences data domains is preferred

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present to both technical and non-technical audiences

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with AWS analytics services (S3, Glue, Lake Formation, Redshift, Athena, EMR, QuickSight)

  • Exposure to AI/ML concepts and services, including data readiness for AI and generative AI patterns

  • Experience with semantic layers, knowledge graphs, or ontology-driven data architectures

  • Familiarity with healthcare data standards (HL7, FHIR, OMOP, claims data models)

  • AWS certifications (Solutions Architect, Data Analytics, or Machine Learning specialty)

  • Experience working with enterprise customers in regulated industries

Key job responsibilities

Technical Leadership and Content

You will contribute to the development and delivery of technical content including whitepapers, blog posts, reference architectures, and workshop materials. You will participate in the review process for technical artifacts created by peers and help maintain the quality bar for content within the Data Lake and Analytics specialty. You will stay current on AWS services, industry trends, and emerging patterns in data and analytics, and you will share what you learn with your team and the broader SA community.

Customer Engagement and Feedback

You will identify gaps in AWS products and services based on your customer engagements and contribute to effective feedback mechanisms that reach the right service teams. You will anticipate near-term customer needs and proactively bring solutions and recommendations to the table. You will build strong working relationships with customer technical teams and earn their trust through consistent delivery and deep technical credibility.

Community and Collaboration

You will be an active and engaged member of the Solutions Architect community. You will build connections across SA organizations, contribute to internal knowledge sharing, participate in technical discussions, and help raise awareness of common challenges and proven solutions in the data and analytics space. You will seek out opportunities to learn from more senior SAs and contribute your own expertise to help others grow.

Basic Qualifications

  • 2+ years of design, implementation, or consulting in applications and infrastructures experience

  • 4+ years of specific technology domain areas (e.g. software development, cloud computing, systems engineering, infrastructure, security, networking, data & analytics) experience

  • 10+ years of IT development or implementation/consulting in the software or Internet industries experience

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working within software development or Internet-related industries

  • Experience migrating or transforming legacy customer solutions to the cloud

  • Experience working with AWS technologies from a dev/ops perspective
