Build our future together:

At Regeneron, we use science and innovation to develop life-changing medicines for people with serious diseases. We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Scientist to join the Product Biochemistry team, supporting the preparation and characterization of critical protein and biomolecule reagents used in preclinical and regulated assay development. In this role, you will support the generation of well-characterized, fit-for-purpose reagents, perform stability and characterization studies, and work closely with cross-functional teams to meet project and assay-development timelines.

This position offers the opportunity to contribute to a fast-growing, science-driven organization making a meaningful difference to patients worldwide.

When & where:

  • Shift Requirements: Full-time

  • Location: On-site in Tarrytown, NY

Discover your role:

  • Perform comprehensive reagent characterization to evaluate identity, purity, stability, aggregation, binding properties, labeling efficiency, and overall fitness for intended use

  • Support the preparation, purification, and conjugation of critical protein and biomolecule reagents for use in assay development and testing

  • Conduct routine and advanced protein analytical testing using techniques such as SDS-PAGE, Western blot, CE-SDS, SEC, UV-Vis spectroscopy, ELISA, and other protein characterization methods

  • Support stability characterization of critical reagents, including appropriate stability and freeze/thaw studies, and investigate factors affecting reagent stability and assay performance

  • Contribute to the development and implementation of new analytical approaches and improved characterization strategies for critical reagents

  • Troubleshoot reagent quality, analytical methods, and instrumentation, and contribute to scientific problem-solving

  • Accurately document experimental procedures, analytical results, and conclusions in the electronic laboratory notebook according to established procedures and timelines

  • Summarize experimental results in clear technical reports and presentations, and communicate findings at group and project meetings

  • Maintain and support laboratory instrumentation used for protein purification and characterization

  • Work collaboratively with cross-functional teams to coordinate reagent needs, priorities, and deliverables, and support project timelines

  • Manage multiple reagent requests and characterization activities simultaneously while maintaining high standards for scientific quality and documentation

This role requires:

  • BS/MS in Biochemistry, Biophysics, Engineering, or a related field, with BS and 8+ years or MS and 6+ years of relevant industry experience

  • Strong hands-on experience in protein characterization, purification, and conjugation

  • Demonstrated experience with multiple protein analytical techniques such as SDS-PAGE, Western blot, CE-SDS, SEC, UV-Vis spectroscopy, and IEF/cIEF

  • Experience with protein purification techniques including affinity chromatography, ion exchange chromatography, size-exclusion chromatography, and FPLC systems

  • Strong understanding of fundamental protein biochemistry, including protein stability, aggregation, binding interactions, and the potential impact of chemical modification on protein properties

  • Strong laboratory documentation, data organization, and record-keeping skills

  • Demonstrated ability to organize and prioritize multiple projects and deliverables in a fast-paced research environment

  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to work independently with appropriate guidance

  • Strong team player with demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively across scientific and functional groups

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Experience with protein labeling/conjugation, including biotin, fluorescent dyes, ruthenium, or related protein modifications, is a plus

  • Experience with SPR/BLI-based binding characterization is a plus

  • Experience with additional biophysical or analytical methods such as LC-MS, MALDI-TOF MS, SEC-MALS, DLS, or DSC is a plus

  • Experience with Empower, UNICORN, or similar chromatography/data-analysis software is a plus

  • Experience supporting critical reagents used in bioanalytical, potency, or other regulated assays is a plus
