Director Global Procurement

Reports To: President

Overview

The Fountainhead Group is seeking an experienced Director of Global Procurement to lead global sourcing, supplier management, and purchasing activities that support manufacturing operations and customer demand. Reporting to the President, this role is responsible for ensuring a reliable and cost-effective flow of materials, components, finished goods, equipment, and services while proactively mitigating supply disruption and strengthening overall procurement performance.

The Director will provide leadership to the procurement team and serve as a key business partner across Operations, Engineering, New Product Development, Finance, and other functional areas. This position requires a hands-on, strategic procurement leader with strong global sourcing and negotiation experience, sound business judgment, and the ability to balance cost, quality, delivery, inventory, and supply continuity across domestic and international suppliers.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and lead global sourcing and procurement strategies that support production requirements, customer demand, cost objectives, and long-term business needs.

  • Lead supplier negotiations, cost-reduction initiatives, RFPs, and sourcing decisions to achieve favorable pricing, terms, lead times, service, quality, and total cost.

  • Manage strategic supplier relationships and performance, including the evaluation and qualification of domestic and international suppliers and resolution of quality, delivery, capacity, and cost issues.

  • Develop and maintain supply risk-management strategies, including contingency planning, inventory/safety-stock considerations, and monitoring of market conditions, tariffs, duties, and other factors that may impact supply continuity.

  • Partner with the Vice President of Asia Pacific Operations to manage FGI's Asia supply chain and supplier relationships throughout Asia and Southeast Asia.

  • Lead, develop, and support the procurement team, providing clear direction, accountability, and ongoing development for direct reports.

  • Collaborate with Operations, Engineering, New Product Development, Finance, and other functional areas to support material requirements, new product launches, tooling, capital equipment, and operational projects.

  • Oversee supplier contracts and renewals, partnering with FGI counsel as appropriate to ensure favorable commercial terms and appropriate business protections.

  • Maintain effective procurement processes, systems, and reporting, and communicate regularly with senior management regarding supplier performance, supply risks, cost initiatives, and issues affecting the flow of goods and services.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Engineering, or a related field; an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience may be considered.

  • Minimum of 7 years of progressively responsible procurement or sourcing experience, including demonstrated leadership or management responsibility, preferably within a manufacturing or industrial environment.

  • Proven global sourcing and supplier management experience, including negotiations, cost-reduction initiatives, supplier performance management, and supply-risk mitigation.

  • Strong leadership, negotiation, analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills with sound business judgment.

  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills with the ability to work effectively across Operations, Engineering, New Product Development, Finance, and Supply Chain functions.

  • Proficiency with ERP/MRP or purchasing systems and Microsoft Excel; Epicor/Kinetic experience is a plus.

What Success Looks Like

Success is measured by delivering sustainable cost savings, strengthening global supplier relationships, reducing supply chain risk, and ensuring reliable material availability. The Director builds a highly collaborative, high-performing procurement team that works cross-functionally to improve efficiency, support business growth, and achieve strategic objectives.

Compensation & Benefits

The Fountainhead Group offers a competitive executive compensation package commensurate with experience, along with a comprehensive benefits package including medical, dental, vision, retirement savings, and paid time off.
