The Opportunity

Superhuman’s Privacy Legal Team is on a mission to help reduce human toil by introducing brilliant AI tools, and we’re looking for a Privacy Counsel to help bring that vision to life. Superhuman is the AI productivity suite that brings together Grammarly, Coda, and Superhuman Mail, and we’re growing quickly, including through acquisitions. That makes this a pivotal moment to join the team and help shape how we build privacy into everything we ship. You’ll partner across Product, Engineering, Security, and the broader legal team, accelerating great ideas with trust by design. You’ll advise on a wide range of global privacy laws and on sensitive data, including children’s and biometric data. In a small, high-visibility team, your work will directly influence strategic decisions across the company. This is the perfect role for someone who thrives in the space between principles and action, and who is known for finding the “yes, if…”

As a Privacy Counsel on the Privacy Legal Team at Superhuman, you will:

  • Advise product, engineering, and business teams on data privacy, security, and compliance requirements across the product lifecycle

  • Provide practical and actionable legal guidance regarding risks and obligations under global laws related to data protection, biometrics, children’s privacy, marketing/advertising, and regulatory engagement (including GDPR, CCPA, COPPA, HIPAA and U.S. state laws)

  • Support, advise on, and drive cross-functional technical implementation for horizontal privacy compliance work, including related to sensitive data types, children’s privacy, and biometric processing

  • Oversee privacy impact assessments and proactively identify and address potential privacy risks

  • Develop and maintain guidance, privacy policies, internal guidelines, and compliance frameworks

  • Design and deliver privacy and data protection training for internal teams

  • Support privacy M&A diligence and integration

  • Track industry developments and best practices related to privacy in SaaS, AI, and cloud technologies

Qualifications

  • JD and membership in good standing with at least one US state bar

  • 5+ years of relevant privacy counseling experience, preferably at a major technology company, B2B SaaS provider, or top law firm

  • Familiarity with B2C and B2B SaaS, AI, and cloud platforms; experience with international privacy compliance

  • Deep knowledge of privacy, security, and data protection laws (GDPR, CCPA, etc.)

  • Experience working with business stakeholders like Product, Engineering, and Security in a fast-paced environment

  • Excellent drafting, communication, and negotiation skills

  • CIPP or other privacy certification is a plus

  • Experience with industry-specific privacy regulations (e.g., COPPA, FERPA, BIPA, CUBI, HIPAA, AADC).

  • Passionate about the intersection of technology, law, and business.

  • Strong interpersonal communication and problem-solving skills.

  • Demonstrated ability to translate complex issues or problems into direct, actionable guidance.

  • Demonstrated ability to support and collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders.

  • A history of developing a culture of getting to “yes, if…”

  • A team player who leads with humility and a healthy sense of humor.

Compensation and Benefits Superhuman offers all team members competitive pay along with a benefits package encompassing the following and more:

  • Excellent health care (including a wide range of medical, dental, vision, mental health, and fertility benefits)

  • Disability and life insurance options

  • 401(k) and RRSP matching

  • Paid parental leave

  • 20 days of paid time off per year, 12 days of paid holidays per year, two floating holidays per year, and flexible sick time

  • Generous stipends (including those for caregiving, pet care, wellness, your home office, and more)

  • Annual professional development budget and opportunities
