EPRI Europe is seeking a Technical Leader I to support work focused on electric distribution systems, addressing the challenges utilities face in operating, restoring, and strengthening these systems under evolving conditions. This role will contribute to applied research, technical project execution, and direct engagement with utilities and industry stakeholders, with a focus on operational needs, system performance, restoration, and resilience-related priorities. The ideal candidate will combine strong experience in distribution operations with sound technical judgment, customer and industry engagement skills, and the ability to identify needs that can help shape future research and project opportunities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct technical research and analysis related to distribution operations, reliability, and resilience.

  • Support execution of technical projects for utilities and industry stakeholders.

  • Contribute to technical reports, presentations, workshops, and other client-facing materials.

  • Engage with customers and industry stakeholders to understand needs and inform technical work.

  • Help identify future research, project, and business development opportunities.

  • Work across teams to connect operational and resilience perspectives in project execution.

  • Utilize emerging artificial intelligence (AI) tools and technologies to enhance productivity, streamline workflows, improve decision-making, and support business objectives.

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or a related technical field; advanced degree preferred.

  • Approximately 5–7 years of relevant experience in electric utility distribution systems or a related field.

  • Strong experience in distribution operations, such as feeder operations, switching practices, outage response, restoration, control centre, or operational reliability.

  • Experience with resilience-related work, such as vulnerability assessment, storm or extreme event response, resilience planning, or risk-informed decision-making.

  • Experience performing independent technical analysis and contributing to complex technical project execution with limited supervision

  • Experience working directly with utilities and industry stakeholders to address technical challenges and translate emerging needs into relevant technical work or future opportunities.

Skills and Attributes

  • Strong understanding of electric distribution system operations and utility operational challenges.

  • Ability to apply technical knowledge to reliability and resilience-related issues.

  • Strong customer and industry engagement skills, with the ability to build credibility and develop relationships with utility stakeholders.

  • Ability to identify needs and translate them into relevant technical work.

  • Strong analytical, written, and verbal communication skills.

  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively across teams.

The base salary range EPRI reasonable expects to offer for this role at the time of posting is €86,000 - €93,000 per year. The salary offered to the successful candidate will be determined using objective, gender-neutral and role-related criteria, which may include relevant skills and experience, qualifications or equivalent experience where applicable, level of responsibility, work location, pay equity considerations, market factors, and role-related business needs. In addition to base salary, EPRI offers a range of employee benefits. Details will be provided during the recruitment process.

EPRI is committed to complying with the regulatory framework governing export control, consisting of international treaties, U.S. laws, regulations and trade sanctions, and where applicable, foreign laws governing export control. These include the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR), Part 810 nuclear export regulations, and the Export Administration Regulations (EAR). It is a critical requirement of this role that the successful candidate will have to work with export-controlled technology / information.
