SUMMARY:

These positions are assigned to the Idaho National Guard (IDNG) Service Member and Family Support Directorate (J9), functioning within the Idaho Military Division (IMD). The primary purpose of these positions is to provide program support for child and youth services, including coordinating activities, services, and resources, maintaining program records, managing aspects of the budget, providing training and information briefs, and reporting program data for the IDNG.

MILITARY DIVISION MANDATORY QUESTIONS (attach as a supporting document in Luma):

(1) Except for minor traffic offenses, have you ever entered a plea of guilty, no contest, or had a withheld judgment to a felony offense? If YES, please explain on a separate paper and attach it to your application.

(2) Do you certify that I am a U.S. citizen, permanent resident or a Foreign National with authorization to work in the United States?

MANDATORY REQUIREMENTS (attach as a supporting document in Luma):

(1) Must have and maintain a valid and unrestricted state issued driver’s license (from any state). Provide your driver’s license number, issuing state, license expiration date, and the full name specified on the license. (Do not provide a copy of your driver’s license.)

(2) Must have, or submit to and pass, a Federal Childcare National Agency Check with Inquiries (CNACI) investigation, including a complete ten (10) finger fingerprint card or scan, upon offer of employment, and agree to submit to periodic rechecks in accordance with applicable laws, regulations, and policies. (At a minimum, a favorable suitability determination by the State Security Manager or OPM is required prior to appointment into this position.)

(3) Must complete required Mandated Reporter training upon hire and maintain valid Adult and Pediatric CPR, First Aid, and AED certifications (or obtain certification within 90 days of employment).

(4) Must be willing and able to travel across the state by all modes of transportation, attend overnight functions, and work non-standard hours (including scheduled weekend drill periods and evening events).

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE (attach as a supporting document in Luma):

Must have 24 months experience performing work related to the knowledge requirements below. Submit a paragraph for each knowledge requirement below that demonstrates the required experience and describes competence in applying the knowledge. Education and training may be used to offset experience.

***TRAINEE APPLICANTS: Applicants who meet some of the preferred qualifications and generally meet the minimum qualifications may apply as a Trainee. Trainee applicants must submit information for the mandatory requirements above and submit a response to each of the knowledge requirements describing their experience and their aptitude or ability to meet the full grade requirements. Indicate at the top of your application that you would like consideration as a Trainee. Applications that meet the minimum qualifications will be accepted, but IMD does not guarantee that Trainee applicants will receive an interview if a sufficient number of fully qualified applicants is received.

KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED

(1) Describe your knowledge of child and youth programs generally, to include program management methods, recruiting and training staff and volunteers, maintaining program records, and coordinating programs support and partnerships with public and private organizations and other community resources.

(2) Describe your knowledge of the military generally, and the National Guard specifically, sufficient to identify and understand issues impacting military children and youth.

(3) Describe your knowledge of applicable laws and statues related to child and youth programs, child and youth safety, reporting procedures for violations, and the resources available to protect children and youth participating in the program.

(4) Describe your knowledge of and skill in incorporating principles of good administration, budget management, and organization with the ability to establish priorities, adjust, and respond to changing issues, requirements and situations.

(5) Describe your knowledge of common office software applications (i.e. Microsoft Office applications) and the ability to use a variety of automated systems and software applications to prepare correspondence, create educational materials, create multi-media presentations, and maintain databases and spreadsheets.

(6) Describe your knowledge of effective communication methods and techniques sufficient to exchange information in writing or verbally, publicly and privately, to prepare and present information and to effectively communicate with a variety of individuals and audiences of varying ages with varying degrees of understanding.
