Description

Senior Accountant

Commercial Real Estate & Corporate Accounting

A growing real estate investment and operating company is seeking a Senior Accountant to join its accounting team. This position offers a unique opportunity to support both property-level accounting and corporate general ledger activities across a diverse portfolio of commercial assets.

The ideal candidate will bring a blend of real estate accounting and general ledger experience, with the ability to manage financial reporting, month-end close, account reconciliations, and tenant-related accounting processes. This role provides broad exposure within real estate accounting and the opportunity to work closely with cross-functional stakeholders in a collaborative environment.

Key Responsibilities

General Ledger & Corporate Accounting

  • Prepare and post journal entries and maintain supporting documentation.

  • Reconcile balance sheet and income statement accounts.

  • Perform cash, banking, and corporate account reconciliations.

  • Support intercompany transactions and related account activity.

  • Ensure financial transactions are recorded accurately and consistently.

Financial Reporting & Close Process

  • Participate in monthly, quarterly, and annual close activities.

  • Produce financial statements and supporting analyses.

  • Prepare account reconciliations and resolve outstanding items.

  • Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow tracking.

  • Support annual audits, lender requests, and other financial reporting requirements.

  • Identify opportunities to streamline accounting processes and improve efficiencies.

Property & Portfolio Accounting

  • Prepare monthly financial packages and supporting schedules for assigned properties.

  • Maintain accurate accounting records for operating real estate assets.

  • Complete annual recoveries and expense reconciliations, including common area maintenance (CAM), real estate taxes, and insurance.

  • Process recurring tenant charges and assist with revenue-related accounting activities.

  • Review operating results, research variances, and ensure financial accuracy.

  • Collaborate with operational teams to ensure timely and complete financial reporting.

Team Collaboration

  • Partner with colleagues across accounting, operations, and leadership teams.

  • Assist with special projects, acquisitions, integrations, and other business initiatives.

Requirements

Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.

  • 4+ years of accounting experience, including experience within the real estate industry.

  • Experience preparing financial statements and supporting close processes.

  • Strong knowledge of general ledger accounting, reconciliations, and financial reporting.

  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.

  • Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.

  • Ability to manage multiple deadlines and priorities in a fast-paced setting.

Preferred

  • Experience with ERP systems, property accounting software, or integrated financial platforms.

  • Commercial real estate accounting experience.

  • Familiarity with CAM reconciliations, tenant recoveries, and lease-related accounting.

  • Experience supporting multiple entities, locations, or operating businesses.
