About the Role

As part of the facility’s interdisciplinary approach to resident and employee safety, the Infection Control & Prevention Nurse will develop and implement infection control procedures and practices. In this essential role, you will lead activities aimed at preventing healthcare-associated infections (HAIs), ensuring that infection sources are isolated to limit the spread of infectious organisms while promoting a safe, secure environment for all.

Key Responsibilities

  • Infection Prevention Oversight: Manage facility-wide activities to prevent HAIs, ensuring strict adherence to isolation procedures and limiting the spread of infectious organisms.

  • Data Collection & Analysis: Systematically collect, analyze, and interpret health data to plan, implement, evaluate, and disseminate appropriate public health practices.

  • Education & Training: Conduct engaging educational and training activities for healthcare workers through direct instruction and the dissemination of best healthcare practices.

  • Documentation & Compliance: Read, analyze, and interpret government regulations, technical procedures, and contracts; write comprehensive reports and correspondence; and respond professionally to sensitive inquiries or complaints.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Education & Experience: 5 years of relevant clinical experience for non-nurse applicants; Registered Nurses should have a broad level of experience, including critical care, emergency medicine, and medical/surgical nursing.

  • Licensure & Certification: Current professional nursing license in the State of Maine; Certification in Infection Control (CIC) can be obtained upon hire.

  • Core Skills & Traits: Highly energetic, adaptable, creative, excellent written and oral communication skills, strong time management, extensive presentation experience, and a working knowledge of nursing practice and theory.

  • Technical Proficiency: Display strong proficiency in computer and software skills to track data and generate reports.
