Mail Room Assistant/Clerk

Shift: 2nd Shift, 1:30 p.m.–10:00 p.m.

Pay: $21.75 per hour

Job Summary

The Mail Room Assistant/Clerk prepares outgoing metered mail for production, checks mail pieces for accuracy and barcode quality, and helps keep equipment running safely and efficiently.

Key Responsibilities

  • Review outgoing metered mail to confirm the date and postage are correct and barcodes are clear and readable before placing mail into production.

  • Identify and communicate errors, including mail pieces with poor-quality or unreadable barcodes.

  • Troubleshoot machine issues and remove mail-piece jams.

  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Sufficient understanding of English to understand and follow safety instructions and operational directions communicated in English, regardless of native language.

  • Dependable and reliable attendance.

  • Ability to work overtime, which may include weekends, holidays, or a different shift, sometimes with little or no advance notice.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds, with or without reasonable accommodation.

  • Ability to walk, stand, stoop, and bend for approximately 80% of the work time, with or without reasonable accommodation.
