Overview:

Summer Interns complete a 10 week internship centered around professional development, career growth and building the necessary skills to succeed. Summer Interns participate in projects and department initiatives that accelerate career growth and play an important role in building the future of the Bank. As an Intern, you will gain exposure to other departments through guest speakers and industry leaders and a built-in network with peers as well as priority consideration for full time opportunities throughout the Bank.

Department Description:

Wealth Advisory Services works closely with high-net-worth individuals and families, typically those with investable assets of $3 million or more, to provide comprehensive wealth planning and advisory solutions. The team takes a holistic approach to helping clients achieve their financial goals through trust and estate planning, investment management, tax planning strategies, and long-term wealth preservation. By developing personalized plans and guidance, the team helps clients navigate complex financial decisions and prepare for important life transitions.

This role provides administrative and planning support to Wealth Advisors and Wealth Associates. Key responsibilities include coordinating and preparing client meeting agendas, documenting and entering pre-call plans, assisting with client servicing activities, and supporting the wealth planning process. While the position has a strong administrative focus, it offers valuable exposure to wealth planning strategies, client relationship management, and the comprehensive advisory services provided to high-net-worth clients. Through day-to-day interactions with advisors and planning activities, interns gain insight into trust and estate planning, investment management, and financial advisory services.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Complete duties and responsibilities of an entry-level professional nature specific to assigned area of the Bank.

  • Ensure activities adhere to established internal policies and external regulations as applicable.

  • Understand and adhere to the Company’s risk and regulatory standards, policies and controls in accordance with the Company’s Risk Appetite. Identify risk-related issues needing escalation to management.

  • Design, implement, maintain and enhance internal controls to mitigate risk on an ongoing basis. Identify risk-related issues needing escalation to management.

  • Promote an environment that supports belonging and reflects the M&T Bank brand.

  • Maintain M&T internal control standards, including timely implementation of internal and external audit points together with any issues raised by external regulators as applicable.

  • Complete other related duties as assigned.

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree

The successful candidate’s particular combination of knowledge, skills, and experience will inform their specific compensation. The range listed above encompasses all geographic locations. The pay rate specific to your location will fall within this range and is available from your recruiter.
