Job Descriptions:
New England Cancer Specialists is looking for a Full-Time 4 day a week Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner to join our Breast Team in our growing practice located in Westbrook ME, at Rock Row. The candidate will have broad oncology and hematology experience. They will collaborate closely with the Breast physicians in diagnosing, treating, and managing patients throughout their care in an active outpatient environment.
The new Rock Row Campus represents a unique collaboration between New England Cancer Specialists (NECS) and our patients, thoughtfully designed to create a comfortable and inviting home for excellent oncology care in New England. This state-of-the-art facility brings together a comprehensive range of services under one roof, including surgery, medical oncology, radiation oncology, genetic counseling, survivorship programs, nutrition support, and behavioral health counseling. Every detail of the campus reflects a commitment to patient-centered care, ensuring that individuals and their families feel supported throughout their cancer journey in a warm and welcoming environment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Elicit medical histories of patients, perform physical examinations, and develop a differential diagnosis/problem list.

Assess the physical and psychosocial status of patients by means of interview, health history, physical examination, and diagnostic studies2

Order and interpret laboratory tests and radiologic data, diagnose, and treat co-morbid illness within the scope of a patient’s hematologic/oncologic diagnosis, perform procedures as delegated by the attending physician, prescribe medications in accordance with federal and state regulations.

Evaluate the quality of care provided and recommend changes for improvement.

Initiate appropriate actions to facilitate the implementation of therapeutic plans that are consistent with the continuing healthcare needs of the patient.

Educate patients and families about the disease process and treatment.

Provide information to patients and families related to symptom management and psychosocial response to the diagnosis of cancer and related treatment.
Travel: rare
Weekends: This position will participate with other practice NP/PAs in weekend urgent care coverage. 3-4 times per year paid at a premium.
Required Experience:

State of Maine Nurse Practitioner/Physician’s Assistant license required or the ability to obtain.

State of New Hampshire Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant License required or the ability to obtain

Three (3) years’ experience in Oncology and Hematology.

Master’s Degree Required.

Women's Health Experience Desired

Ability to collaborate with physicians, nurses, and support staff.

Ability to communicate with patients in a clear, concise, and compassionate manner.
