Job Summary

Help power the future of energy.

As an Engineer II - Power Generation, you'll support renewable energy and generation projects that help meet the evolving energy needs of our customers and communities. Working alongside experienced engineers and project teams, you'll contribute to planning, engineering, and project development activities while building expertise in wind generation and other utility-scale energy projects.

This role offers hands-on experience across multiple phases of project development and execution, providing opportunities to solve technical challenges, collaborate with diverse teams, and contribute to projects that support Alliant Energy's clean energy future.

What you will do

  • Follows procedures to maintain a safe work environment.

  • Analyze problems and recommend possible solutions; seeks guidance from peers and mentors to ensure satisfactory outcomes.

  • Uses critical thinking skills and understanding of technical standards to provide cost-effective solutions to a specific problem.

  • Demonstrates an understanding of customer and business needs and implements the appropriate workable solution to problems based on given budgetary and schedule constraints while appropriately applying policy and code requirements.

  • With supervisor guidance makes medium risk decisions that involve direct application of technical knowledge.

  • Has established effective working relationships with employees, contractors, customers, functional groups, and internal and external peers.

  • Accurately prepares detailed documents such as technical studies and project documentation for future reference.

  • Accesses project financial reports to ensure Sarbanes-Oxley Act (SOX) compliance and review costs being charged to projects. Has a basic understanding of the property unit catalogue and applying the chart of accounts.

  • Manages project budgets, including processes accruals and communicates anticipated changes in the budget; has completed financial reporting training and Utility Rate Making Concepts training.

  • Supports Generation facility outages.

  • Engages in other duties as needed that support Alliant Energy’s Values and helps deliver on our Purpose to serve customers and build stronger communities.

Education Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree Engineering program that is accredited through the Engineering Accreditation Commission required.

Pay Range:

$79,000 - $105,000

This position is eligible to participate in the annual incentive program. The final salary offered will generally fall within this range and is dependent on various factors including but not limited to the responsibilities of the position, experience, skill set, internal pay equity and other relevant qualifications of the applicant.
