Litigation Associate – Insurance Defense

Our Client is seeking a Litigation Associate – Insurance Defense with a minimum of 3 years of civil litigation or insurance defense experience to join its Insurance Defense and Civil Litigation Practice Group in the Atlanta metropolitan area. The ideal candidate will have experience managing litigation matters from inception through resolution, drafting sophisticated litigation documents, conducting and defending depositions, handling discovery, participating in mediations and hearings, and preparing matters for trial. Job Type: Full-Time

Compensation: $130,000+ per year, depending on experience

Key Responsibilities

Manage assigned litigation matters from case inception through trial or resolution.

Draft pleadings, motions, discovery requests and responses, briefs, legal memoranda, and other litigation documents.

Conduct legal research and develop effective case strategies in collaboration with senior attorneys.

Take and defend depositions and participate in mediations, hearings, and settlement negotiations.

Review and analyze discovery, medical records, expert reports, contracts, insurance policies, and other case-related documents.

Prepare cases for trial, including witness preparation, exhibits, motions in limine, trial briefs, and other trial materials.

Assist with appellate matters when required.

Communicate effectively with clients, claims professionals, courts, opposing counsel, experts, and other stakeholders.

Manage multiple active matters while maintaining accurate calendars, deadlines, and case files.

Evaluate liability, damages, exposure, and potential litigation outcomes.

Provide timely case updates and recommendations regarding litigation strategy and resolution.

Maintain high standards of professionalism, legal ethics, accuracy, and client service.

Practice Areas

The firm handles a broad range of insurance defense and civil litigation matters, including:

Catastrophic injury

Wrongful death

Transportation and trucking accidents

Construction litigation

Premises liability

Product liability

Subrogation

Insurance coverage disputes

Commercial and general liability matters

State and federal court litigation

Required Qualifications

Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.

Active and good-standing membership with the Georgia Bar.

Minimum of 3 years of experience in civil litigation, insurance defense, or a closely related practice.

Demonstrated experience with litigation procedures, discovery, legal research, and motion practice.

Strong legal writing, analytical, negotiation, and oral advocacy skills.

Excellent attention to detail and organizational abilities.

Ability to independently manage multiple cases, priorities, and deadlines.

Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

Ability to work effectively in a collaborative, fast-paced law firm environment.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience handling insurance defense matters from inception through trial.

Hands-on deposition and mediation experience.

Experience with catastrophic injury, transportation, construction, premises liability, or product liability litigation.

Experience practicing in both state and federal courts.

Trial preparation or first-chair/second-chair trial experience.

Strong client relationship and case management skills.
