Full job description

Overview

This role supports the strategy, transformation, quality, and performance of the organization's procurement request lifecycle. This role sets the standard and is accountable for the accuracy, compliance, and efficiency of procurement operations end to end. Beyond day-to-day execution, this role is a key architect of where procurement operations is headed next — modernizing the PR-to-PO experience, building durable team depth, and advancing automation and AI-enabled workflows across the function.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities to include, but not limited to:

Transforming the Future

  • Co-owns the evolution of the PR-to-PO operating model, identifying where processes need to change as the organization matures and driving agent, orchestration, or other systems initiatives tied to the broader ERP upgrade.

  • Bring a Day 1 lens to existing end-to-end workflows - challenging legacy assumptions and identifying where agents can complement orchestration rather than duplicate it.

  • Champions automation and AI-assisted approaches across sourcing triage and quality control, identifying high-volume rules-based tasks suited for AI-assisted or agentic handling and partnering with Tech to pilot and scale solutions.

  • Builds AI-assisted development ("vibe coding") as a team capability. Championing teamwide AI adoption and proficiency while holding oneself personally accountable for AI fluency.

  • Partners with adjacent functions (Sourcing, Contracting, Payments, FP&A, Accounting) to design what future-state intelligent buying looks like structurally.

Procurement Operations (Buy Desk)

  • Owns the Purchase Requisition/PO change request Quality Control program and end-to-end Purchase Order lifecycle.

  • Sets the compliance and validation standards (SOX, contract review, intake accuracy, non-compliant spend escalation) the team operates within, and resolves escalations beyond team-level authority.

  • Owns cross-functional dependencies and operates boundarylessly to set SLAs and resolve issues that cross team lines.

  • Owns KPIs, dashboards, and Standard Operating Procedures across Triage and Buy Desk, and owns e-procurement platform configuration to improve cycle time.

  • Provides functional leadership and mentorship of the Buy Desk Advisor team and associated contingent staff.

People Management:

  • Indirect supervisory responsibility for contingent workers

  • No direct FTE management responsibilities

Qualifications

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Experience mentoring or functionally guiding a procurement/operations team.

  • Strong executive-facing communication skills; able to represent procurement operations performance and risk to senior stakeholders.

  • Track record of driving cross-functional outcomes and leading teams through organizational/process transformation as a change agent.

  • Hands-on experience with AI-assisted process design or lightweight tool-building ("vibe coding") and Claude (or similar).

  • Advanced critical thinking and root-cause analysis skills applied at a program/strategy level.

  • Strong grasp of accounting codes, contract terms, and queue management under tight SLAs.

  • Advanced Excel required; experience building/owning reporting dashboards a plus.

  • Extensive Coupa experience required; familiarity with other e-procurement/ERP platforms (SAP, Ariba, Oracle) a plus.

  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Business, Finance, Accounting, or related field, or equivalent experience.

  • 5+ years procurement operations experience, with demonstrated leadership scope beyond individual contributor tasks.
