Job Title: Director, Facility Operations & ConstructionDepartment: Facilities

Location: Rochester, NY

Hours Per Week: 40 hoursSchedule: Days, Monday – Friday

SUMMARY The Director, Facilities Operations & Construction is responsible for the management and support of physical infrastructure and real estate of the organization, including direct ownership of Rochester sites and SME support of global locations. The role also provides leadership, management and development for the facilities and Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) staff.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Maintain daily departmental performance by managing resources, prioritizing tasks, and developing and monitoring metrics.

  • Facilitate communication as a point of escalation or strategic point of contact for the department.

  • Identify, lead, and/or participate in cross-functional process improvement initiatives to optimize operational capabilities.

  • Promote and uphold a high performing culture through effective talent planning, selection, onboarding and continuing education.

  • Curate and deliver comprehensive training plans and materials to foster successful onboarding and employee performance.

  • Provide ongoing coaching and mentorship supported by routine performance metrics to identify clear performance feedback and career development plans.

  • Foster professional development through continuous coaching and performance management

  • Support global facilities in efforts to identify operational efficiencies and cost reduction

  • Provide the necessary support globally for space planning, construction, and renovation projects

  • Provide global support for security and backup power distribution, including managing card access/video; responsible for the maintenance of all buildings and grounds, utility systems and infrastructure

  • Design and implement facility project plans and manages relationships with external architects, engineering staff, general contractors and vendors

  • Execute and monitor regular building, equipment and grounds inspections to meet all federal, state and local requirements; conduct self-audits of facilities and staff to ensure preparedness for regulatory inspections and client audits, as well as ensure high standards for cleanliness and safety

  • Lead facilities component of audits (client/internal/regulatory), including documentation (Master Control, Change Controls, QI’s, CAPA’s).

  • Establish policies, procedures and sets direction for overall facilities and EHS activities

  • Manage facility operations staff to maximize productivity and accountability; including on call hours during emergent needs on site. Provide direction, training, performance evaluation for departmental team.

  • Provide global support for tracking of equipment/facilities maintenance schedules

  • Manage major assets, providing notification of when equipment preventive maintenance and calibration is due and to gather the necessary documentation to support the closing of the work order

  • Manage site drawings globally

  • Manage global facilities CAPEX budgets, working with site leaders on plans/execution

  • Maintain lease agreements of all ACM sites, supporting negotiation/ongoing discussions with landlords as required

  • Perform other duties as assigned

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Associates Degree and 5+ years’ experience OR 10+ years’ experience in Facility Operations

  • 5 years progressive leadership experience

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience in project management, including construction and renovation projects preferred

  • Knowledge of building infrastructure such as electrical and mechanical elements

  • Experience in managing a regulated operation required, clinical laboratory environment preferred

  • Experience with computer maintenance management software (CMMS) and work order systems

  • AutoCAD experience a plus

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or related field

Required Licensure/Certifications

  • Valid NYS Driver’s License

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Sedentary - Sedentary roles are primarily office-based and require prolonged sitting (67–100% of the workday) with minimal physical effort and lifting limited to under 10 lbs. Fine motor skills are necessary for computer work, writing, and telephone use, supported by clear visual and auditory ability. Cognitive and emotional demands are high due to extended concentration, frequent interruptions, independent decision-making, and information processing. Although physical exposure is low, administrative areas within healthcare environments may occasionally involve contact with infectious agents. Some roles may require flexible hours, TB screening, or a valid driver’s license.

$155,000.00 - $200,000.00

The listed base pay range is a good faith representation of current potential base pay for a successful full time applicant. It may be modified in the future and eligible for additional pay components. Pay is determined by factors including experience, relevant qualifications, specialty, internal equity, location, and contracts.
