Full job description
Areas of Responsibility:
Operations & Maintenance
Exercises overall responsibility for the operation of the buildings and grounds on the campus and the maintenance thereof. Ensures the facilities are kept clean and that all building systems are maintained to a high level of safety and comfort to support the educational program

Supervises all phases of buildings & grounds.

Supervises all phases of district facility maintenance.

Assists the Assistant Superintendent for Finance & Operations in analyzing the district’s insurance needs for liability, fire, and multi-peril insurance on buildings and equipment.

Carries out an ongoing program of cost analysis in relation to construction, maintenance, upkeep and repair of all district-owned buildings and equipment.

Coordinates architect and staff member activities related to renovation of facilities.

Advises and recommends to the Superintendent policies and procedures to improve the overall maintenance program for plant and equipment.
Transportation
Supervises all phases of transportation. Responsible for a safe and efficient transportation program, both district-operated and contracted. Ensures that transportation is available to support the needs of special education and non-public school students as required by law. Provides for transportation to support vocational education programs, interscholastic athletics, and academic activities.
Campus Security
Responsible for developing, maintaining, and supervising a security program for the district to provide a safe and orderly environment for the educational program.
Electronic Data Security
Manages overall security of data for students and finances as per ESSA guidelines.

Serves as the District Data Protection Officer; oversees disclosure avoidance practices of personally identifiable information, ensuring District compliance with NIST CSF-aligned protocols, and compliance with state and federal law

Supervises data governance to ensure the use of personally identifiable information benefits students and the District

Oversees parent complaint procedures, incident reporting, and notification to NYSED
Personnel
Recommends appropriate personnel actions such as appointment, retention, and dismissal of personnel for all of the above areas of responsibility. Ensures employees are adequately trained in the above areas of responsibility.
Budget Management
Develops and submits annual budgets for approval; Monitors and manages approved budgets for O&M and Security operations.
Job Qualifications
Must possess the Civil Service title of Director of Facilities II or be reachable on the current Director of Facilities II list.

Good knowledge of applicable codes, laws, rules, and regulations governing school buildings and grounds administration;

Good knowledge of buildings and grounds maintenance and repair practices and procedures;

Good knowledge of safety precautions and practices associated with building and grounds maintenance and repair work;

Good knowledge of the principles and practices of administrative supervision;
-
Good knowledge of budgeting; ability to organize, prepare and maintain accurate records and files;
-
Ability to effectively, efficiently and safely use tools and operate equipment related to building and grounds maintenance and repair;

Ability to inspect the work of building tradespeople and contractors to ensure compliance with contract specifications, as well as applicable codes and regulations;

Ability to prepare budgets, operating reports and a variety of other reports relative to program activities;

Ability to understand, interpret, and follow instructions, plans, diagrams, specifications and blueprints;

Ability to understand and follow written and verbal instructions;
-
Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing; mechanical aptitude;

Willingness to work under adverse weather conditions
