Full job description

  • DESCRIPTION OF POSITION

  • Acts as a liaison between said section(s), physicians, hospital personnel and public. Approximately 80% of the duties of the Lab Supervisor will be supervisory; 20% of the duties will involve bench work.

  • QUALIFICATIONS

  • Professional/Educational

  • Bachelor degree in Medical Technology or a related field. Training and experience.

  • Laboratory training and experience culminating in National Certification: MT (ASCP), CLS (NCA), CLT (HEW), or equivalent.

  • A minimum three (3) years experience in a clinical laboratory. At least one year in the department being supervised.

  • Must have experience of complex laboratory analysis.

  • Must have a comprehensive knowledge of lab equipment.

  • Must be able to recognize problems, identify the causes and recommend alternatives.

  • Must be able to evaluate procedures and equipment.

  • Must be able to maintain a fiscal responsibility to assigned departments.

  • Knowledge or training for the professional or technical group supervised.

  • Personal

  • Evidence of good health, grooming and professional conduct.

  • Desire and ability to cooperate with and/or under the direction of others.

  • Possesses a sense of responsibility, initiative and honesty.

  • Ability to follow directions accurately.

  • Has the ability to work very closely with Department Manager, all laboratory employees, nurses, occasional patients, physicians, administrative staff, other section heads and other hospital employees.

  • Knows a variable schedule may be required due to the 24 hour requirement of the lab.

Actual pay will be determined by qualifications, experience, and internal equity.
