Job overview

The Hasson Lab at Princeton University seeks a postdoctoral researcher to develop computational world models of children’s everyday environments using longitudinal audiovisual recordings. The research will train deep learning models to reconstruct and simulate children’s environments, including visual perspectives, physical interactions, and actions, and explore how these representations emerge through everyday experience. The postdoctoral research associate appointment is for one year and may be renewed annually based on funding and other requirements.

Job Description

Postdoctoral Research Associate (Hasson Lab)Location: Princeton Neuroscience InstituteSalary Range or Pay Grade: PDRA: $65,000 - $70,000; ARS: $67,000 - $79,000 Description The Hasson Lab at Princeton University's Department of Psychology and Princeton Neuroscience Institute is seeking a postdoctoral researcher to develop computational world models of children's everyday environments. The position is part of the First 1,000 Days Project, a large-scale effort to continuously record children's natural audiovisual environments during their first years of life. The research will use these rich, longitudinal recordings to train deep learning models that reconstruct and simulate children's environments, including egocentric visual perspectives, physical interactions, and actions. The goal is to build computational models that capture the structure and dynamics of the world developing children experience, and to explore how these representations emerge through everyday experience. The ideal candidate will have a strong computational background and prior experience in deep learning, computer vision, and training large-scale visual or multimodal models. Experience with world models, generative video models, 3D scene reconstruction, virtual reality environments, or the Unity game engine is particularly desirable. We welcome applicants from computer science, machine learning, computational neuroscience, and related fields who want to apply advanced computational methods to understand learning and development in naturalistic environments. Positions at the postdoctoral research associate rank are for one year, renewable annually based on funding and meeting all other requirements. Those hired at a more senior rank may have multi-year appointments.Interested applicants must include a cover letter, curriculum vitae with publication list, a brief statement of research interests, and two reference contacts. This position is subject to the University's background check policy. Qualifications Essential Qualifications: PhD in a relevant discipline.
