Staff Accountant

About the Role

We are seeking a highly organized and analytical Staff Accountant to join our team on a contract basis. This role supports core accounting functions, including journal entries, reconciliations, and financial reporting. The ideal candidate is detail‑driven, comfortable working with large datasets, and capable of navigating a fast‑paced, deadline‑oriented environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare and post accurate journal entries for monthly, quarterly, and year‑end close.

• Perform account reconciliations, ensuring completeness and accuracy.

• Support the preparation of financial statements and internal management reports.

• Analyze variances and assist with resolving discrepancies across accounts.

• Maintain general ledger integrity through ongoing review and documentation.

• Assist with audit requests by preparing schedules and gathering supporting documentation.

• Collaborate with finance and cross‑functional teams to support accounting operations.

• Identify process improvement opportunities to enhance efficiency and internal controls.

Requirements

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.

• Strong understanding of GAAP and general accounting principles.

• Proficiency with ERP systems

• Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, formulas).

• Strong analytical, organizational, and problem‑solving abilities.

• Excellent communication skills and attention to detail.

• Ability to work independently and meet tight deadlines.

Preferred Experience

• Experience in public accounting or working with audits.

• Familiarity with large, matrixed organizations.

• Exposure to financial analysis or budgeting.
