Full job description

**SRC, Inc.**is currently seeking an Algorithm Engineer to support the development of radar and sensor processing algorithms for defense and national security applications. This is an early-career role for an engineer with strong mathematical and physical fundamentals who wants to apply them to real recorded data from real systems. You will work under the direction of senior engineers and scientists to implement, test, and analyze signal processing and estimation algorithms - understanding what the sensor actually measured, applying processing that extracts useful information from it, and quantifying how well it worked. The role sits at the intersection of applied mathematics, physics, and software, and it rewards people who are comfortable reasoning from first principles when the data doesn't look like the textbook said it would. This is a distinct discipline from machine learning engineering, though the two teams work closely together. What You'll Do - Implement and test signal processing algorithms including matched filtering, pulse compression, Doppler processing, beamforming, and detection processing - Analyze recorded sensor data to characterize system behavior, identify artifacts and interference, and validate that algorithms perform as predicted by theory - Develop and run modeling and simulation to generate synthetic data, verify algorithm behavior under controlled conditions, and support Monte Carlo performance analysis - Build analysis tooling and visualizations that make complex multidimensional data interpretable to engineers and customers - Compare algorithm performance against theoretical bounds and against alternative approaches, using appropriate metrics such as ROC curves, detection and false alarm rates, and estimation error statistics - Assist with translating algorithms from prototype environments into production or real-time implementations - Gather and correlate data and perform routine analysis in support of larger program objectives - Contribute data, figures, and findings to technical reports, test documentation, and presentations What You'll Bring - Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Physics, Applied Mathematics, Statistics, or a related technical discipline and 0 + years of experience (internships, co-ops, research assistantships, and substantial academic project work count) - Solid foundation in linear algebra, probability and statistics, and Fourier analysis - Coursework or project experience in digital signal processing - sampling, filtering, spectral estimation, and the FFT - Proficiency in MATLAB and/or Python with NumPy and SciPy - Ability to reason quantitatively about physical systems and to sanity-check a result against what physics permits - Clear technical writing and the ability to present analysis so that someone else can follow the reasoning Ways to Stand Out - Coursework or research in radar systems, remote sensing, communications, or electromagnetics - Familiarity with detection and estimation theory including likelihood ratio tests, CFAR detection, maximum likelihood and Bayesian estimation, Cramer-Rao bounds - Exposure to Kalman filtering, target tracking, or sensor fusion - Experience with SAR, ISAR, or other coherent imaging - Programming in C/C++ or exposure to GPU acceleration (CUDA, CuPy) or FPGA/DSP implementation - Experience working with large recorded datasets and the practical problems of I/O, memory, and vectorization - Familiarity with software-defined radio hardware or RF test equipment - Exposure to applying machine learning methods to signal or RF data - Master's degree in a related technical discipline What Sets Us Apart?
