Full job description

The Employee Relations Investigator serves as a neutral fact-finder, conducting workplace investigations and advising on employee relations matters. This role investigates concerns such as alleged policy violations, harassment, discrimination, retaliation, and workplace conduct, and supports fair, consistent, and compliant resolution.

The investigator partners with Employee Relations, HR Business Partners, Labor Relations, Legal, Global Security, and business leaders to assess information, document findings, and recommend appropriate next steps.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct thorough, objective, and well-documented workplace investigations.

  • Interview involved employees and witnesses, gather and analyze relevant information, and assess credibility.

  • Prepare clear, accurate investigation reports and document findings.

  • Advise HR Business Partners and leaders on employee relations concerns, risk, and potential courses of action.

  • Handle sensitive employee matters with confidentiality, sound judgment, professionalism, and discretion.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional partners to support fair and consistent outcomes.

  • Identify patterns or trends across cases and provide practical recommendations.

Required qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.

  • At least five years of experience in Human Resources, Employee Relations, workplace investigations, or a related field.

  • Demonstrated ability to conduct thorough, objective, and defensible investigations.

  • Strong interviewing, fact-finding, analytical, and report-writing skills.

  • Ability to maintain confidentiality, assess credibility, and manage sensitive matters professionally.

  • Strong communication, conflict-resolution, organizational, and relationship-building skills.

  • Ability to consult with HR partners and leaders, assess risk, and balance business needs with compliance requirements.

Preferred qualifications

  • Experience investigating harassment, discrimination, retaliation, workplace misconduct, ethics concerns, or other policy violations.

  • Experience in manufacturing, production, distribution, or unionized environments, particularly with hourly or non-exempt workforces.

  • Experience using case management systems such as HR Acuity, NAVEX, EthicsPoint, or similar platforms.

  • Certification or training related to workplace investigations, human resources, employee relations, conflict resolution, or employment law.

  • Ability to work independently, navigate ambiguity, and adapt to changing business needs.
