The Department of Environmental Quality/Office of Management and Finance has a vacancy.

This is an Internal Promotion – Open only to current permanent employees of DEQ

The Louisiana Department of Environmental Quality’s (LDEQ) mission is to provide service to the people of Louisiana through comprehensive environmental protection in order to promote and protect health, safety and welfare.

Are you an experienced accountant looking for a new role? We are looking for a candidate with experience in ensuring accuracy and attention to detail who wants to work with grant budgets, monitoring grant expenditures and revenue, and analyzing financial information.

Six years of experience in accounting, auditing, financial operations, payroll, or banking; OR

Six years of full-time experience in any field plus twenty-four semester hours in accounting plus three years of experience in accounting, auditing, financial operations, payroll, or banking; OR

A bachelor’s degree with twenty-four semester hours in accounting plus three years of experience in accounting, auditing, financial operations, payroll, or banking; OR

A bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business administration, management, economics, or statistics plus three years of experience in accounting, auditing, financial operations, payroll, or banking; OR

An advanced degree in accounting, finance, business administration, management, economics, quantitative methods, or statistics plus two years of experience in accounting, auditing, financial operations, payroll, or banking; OR

Possession of a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license plus one year of experience in accounting, auditing, financial operations, payroll, or banking.

EXPERIENCE SUBSTITUTION: Every 30 semester hours earned from an accredited college or university will be credited as one year of experience towards the six years of full-time work experience in any field. The maximum substitution allowed is 120 semester hours which substitutes for a maximum of four years of experience in any field. The official job specifications for this role, as defined by the State Civil Service, can be found here.Job Duties:• Manages expenditures and revenues by making federal grant drawdowns and updating expenditure spreadsheets for each grant in the department and the concurring deposit documents with STO.

  • Serves as the financial contact for federal grants by working and collaborating with grant managers on changes to their grants workplans and grant spread sheets.
  • Prepares mandated Financial reports, ensuring accurate data by submitting quarterly and Annual Federal Financial Reports to the federal grant agency as well as preparing the Federal Annual Financial Reports to OSRAP.
  • Compiling audit information requested by federal agencies and/or legislative auditors.
  • Recording all grant documentation to Onbase for electronic filing.

Position-Specific Details: Appointment Type: Promotion/Detail – Internal Open only to current permanent employees of DEQ Domicile: East Baton Rouge Compensation: This position offers a Special Entrance Rate (SER) listed below. This is the minimum compensation that may be offered. The job title and salary offered will be determined based on qualifications and experience.• Accountant 4: $30.35 per hour
