As a Registered Nurse with the Department of Corrections (DOC), you will provide essential treatment and guidance to help inmates maintain and improve their health at the State Correctional Institution (SCI) at Albion. This role allows you to build strong clinical skills through direct care and continuous learning. You will contribute to safe, effective, and patient-centered services every day. Watch this video to see what the PA DOC has to offer you! DESCRIPTION OF WORK This position delivers hands-on nursing care to inmates with medical, behavioral, or developmental needs. It requires strong clinical judgment, steady communication, and a commitment to safe treatment practices. As a Registered Nurse, you will perform the following duties: 1. Clinical Care: Assess inmate needs, administer medications, perform treatments, and support daily living activities 2. Health Monitoring: Check vital signs, assist with examinations, and provide education and counseling 3. Emergency Response: Deliver first aid, CPR, and other urgent care when needed 4. Record Management: Complete reports, update electronic health records, and maintain controlled substance documentation 5. Supply Preparation: Sterilize instruments and maintain adequate stock in treatment areas 6. Team Communication: Share information during shift reports and notify staff of medical concerns Interested in learning more? The Department of Corrections is staffed by three work shifts that cover the facility 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. These shifts include 1st shift (6:00 AM to 2:30 PM), 2nd shift (2:00 PM to 10:30 PM), and 3rd shift (10:00 PM to 6:30 AM). 3. Your work schedule is to be determined. 4. Alternative work schedules may be available, depending on operational needs. 5. This position is eligible for full retirement benefits at age 50 or 55. 6.
