General Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree in Math, Statistics, Physics, Education, or a related field. Master’s degree in Math Education, Developmental Education, or related field is desirable. Five years experience in collegiate teaching, tutoring, learning center activities, or a related field. Supervisory experience strongly preferred. A combination of education, experience, and training that would produce the required knowledge and abilities could be considered.

Nature & Purpose of Position/Usual Duties:

Performs highly advanced and complex managerial work providing direction and guidance in strategic operations and planning for the Academic Success Center. Assists the director with various initiatives and objectives and supervises operations of the Academic Success Center’s Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math ( STEM ) tutoring programs.

Primary Responsibilities (Staff Positions Only):

Assists the Director and other managerial staff by directing program activities of staff in the Academic Success Center ( ASC ). Attends and presides over meetings in the absence of the Director or at the Director’s request. Represents the ASC at meetings, events, conferences, and on committees. Develops a broad array of printed or online documents to support student learning in STEM areas. Develops and implements techniques for evaluating program activities. Designs and implements assessments to improve the ASC’s services and programs. Participates in regular assessment of program outcomes. Develops goals, objectives, new initiatives, and strategic plans. Oversees and approves schedules, priorities, and standards for achieving goals. Supervises operations and provides daily support for the ASC’s STEM tutoring programs. Manages online support and resources for ASC Math, Statistics, Physics, and Chemistry programs, including synchronous and asynchronous tutoring and resources for students and faculty. Develops and manages schedules for Math, Statistics, Physics, and Chemistry tutoring programs at campus locations and online spaces. Develops, implements, and evaluates policies and procedures and oversees compliance with policies and procedures. Designs and implements professional development programming for the ASC student staff and the broader college community to include workshops, staff development, and orientations. Plans, implements, coordinates, monitors, and evaluates ASC’s Math, Statistics, Physics, and Chemistry tutoring programs. Identifies areas of needed change and makes recommendations to improve operations. Directs and evaluates business function, division, or department activities. Develops, reviews, and monitors budget expenditures. Oversees the work of others. Supports professional and student staff via informal and formal communications, feedback, observations, and general career support. Conducts ongoing tutor training and staff development. Plans, assigns, and supervises the work of student employees, graduate assistants, and the Student Success Coordinator. Conducts ongoing evaluations of Math, Statistics, Physics, Biology, and Chemistry student staff and maintains documentation as required by the College Reading and Learning Association ( CRLA ) tutor certification program. Oversees the preparation of management and productivity reports and studies. Collects center data and prepares productivity studies and reports. Develops a broad array of written materials in support of the ASC’s work, including monthly reports and frequent emails to faculty and staff. Manages programs focusing on continuous process improvement. Participates in strategic planning. Performs other related duties as assigned.
