Summary: Legends Global, the leader in privately managed public assembly facilities, has an excellent and immediate opening for an Assistant Facility Manager at the Greater Columbus Convention Center (GCCC). The Assistant Facility Manager is responsible for assisting the Facility Manager and supervising facility engineers. The position is also responsible for actively managing facility resources. Must be able to collaborate with the team to support the facility systems (i.e., mechanical, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, Lighting, and Building Management systems). The position requires someone with technical competence as well as people management and leadership skills. MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assists the Facility Manager with hiring, supervising, training, and disciplining personnel in assigned department(s).

  • Communicate effectively with the Engineering department staff and all other GCCC departments/stakeholders.

  • Supervise full-time facility engineering staff. Assign specific work tasks and monitor progress as to timeliness and quality of results. Ensure deadlines are met or exceeded. Work with engineering supervisors on other shifts to maintain continuity between the shifts.

  • Ensure a safe environment for all GCCC guests and staff.

  • Develop relationships with vendors/suppliers and solicit quotes for facility repairs.

  • Requisition repair parts, supplies and equipment through established purchasing procedures.

  • Respond to emergencies as needed, coordinate appropriate repairs, and manage costs.

  • Troubleshoot and resolve a variety of issues. Determine root cause and the most appropriate path to correcting and preventing similar issues.

  • Develop training programs that ensure that all staff members are proficient in operating and maintaining all related building systems.

  • Maintain department employee records; and provide group and individual counseling related to department goals and objectives, planning sessions, project updates, department performance reviews, individual performance reviews, and disciplinary actions.

  • Attend weekly production meetings and communicate all client needs and plans to the Engineering team. Develop and maintain a harmonious working relationship with all the other departments.

  • Develop, implement, document, and maintain effective facility maintenance policies, procedures, and programs. To include PM software program tracking – HVAC systems and equipment, electrical systems and equipment, refrigeration systems and equipment, kitchen systems and equipment, structural systems, facility hardware systems and equipment, and facility material handling and specialty equipment.

  • Create and implement Standard Operating Procedures.

  • Maintain proper control and care of inventories of supplies, spare parts, shop tools and equipment.

  • Be responsive to client and tenant requests in the areas of safety, plumbing, mechanical, electrical, and environmental needs through both personal contact and work order systems.

  • Manage and maintain routine, precautionary, and emergency alarms from life safety systems.

  • Develops an emergency action plan for system malfunctions or breakdowns; develops corrective actions and solutions.

  • Provides technical support, oversees and/or assists with repairs and maintenance of all facility systems and equipment.

  • Ensures proper utilization of the Work Order and (CMMS).

  • Manage work orders and preventive maintenance details.

  • Provide cause for proper working conditions, safe working procedures, and a clean and orderly work environment.

  • Update management with timecard corrections, performance reviews, purchase request orders, operating budget, energy consumption analysis, and special project reports and recommendations.

  • Read and interpret blueprints, performance charts and control panels to evaluate the efficiency of each system.

  • Adhere to OSHA, NFPA and other applicable safety codes.

  • May occasionally have to enter areas where fumes, airborne particles and toxic or caustic chemicals are present.

  • Work extended and/or irregular hours including nights, weekends, and holidays, as needed.

  • Must have the ability to interact with guests in a friendly, courteous, and polite manner. This will include initiating contact with guests within 10 feet – i.e., smiling, saying “Good Day”, or helping when needed.

  • Must feel comfortable when around large groups or speaking to clients and guests, as needed

  • Other duties as assigned

Supervisory Responsibilities: Directly supervises employees in the Engineering Department. Fulfills supervisory responsibilities in accordance with Legends Global's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding; disciplining employees in conjunction with Human Resources; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
