Job Description: Insight Global is seeking an AI Research Engineer – Generative AI & Foundation Models for a leading energy technology and research organization. This candidate will help bridge advanced AI research and industrial-scale deployment by designing, training, and optimizing next-generation Generative AI and Foundation Models. The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in large-scale machine learning, LLM fine-tuning and alignment, and Python development. This role offers the opportunity to work on cutting-edge AI research focused on solving complex challenges across power generation, renewable energy, electric grid infrastructure, and advanced manufacturing while collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to transform innovative concepts into impactful real-world solutions.

Day-to-Day:

  • Design and develop innovative Generative AI and Foundation Model architectures for industrial applications
  • Execute large-scale machine learning training and model development workflows
  • Perform LLM post-training, alignment, optimization, and fine-tuning activities
  • Build scalable, reusable, and research-grade Python solutions
  • Develop and evaluate AI prototypes to solve real-world industrial challenges
  • Analyze experimental results and improve model performance
  • Collaborate with researchers, business stakeholders, and external partners
  • Translate cutting-edge AI research into practical industrial applications
  • Support AI initiatives across power generation, renewable energy, electric grid, and manufacturing domains

Skills and Requirements

  • Master's degree with 2+ years of relevant experience OR PhD in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, AI/ML, or related field
  • Expertise in Generative AI and Foundation Models
  • Proven experience with large-scale machine learning model training
  • Demonstrated experience in LLM post-training, alignment, and fine-tuning techniques
  • Advanced Python programming skills with experience writing, debugging, and maintaining high-quality code
  • Experience with time-series forecasting and modeling
  • Knowledge of Physics-Informed Neural Networks (PINNs) or physics-integrated machine learning
  • Experience applying Knowledge Graphs for AI reasoning, memory, or explainability
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to explain complex AI concepts to technical and non-technical audiences
  • Experience participating in or leading advanced research initiatives
  • Background working in industrial, manufacturing, power, energy, or cyber-physical systems environments
