Job Title: Public Safety, Trainer 3 - Traffic/LE Phlebotomy ProgramAgency: Department of Public Safety Job Requisition ID: JR0000006197Shift: Day (United States of America)Compensation Details: $61,858.00 - $64,950.90 Job Description: Description of Duties & Responsibilities: The primary function of this position will be to coordinate the Law Enforcement Phlebotomy program to include scheduling, assisting with instruction, updating the curriculum, and maintaining program standards. Additionally, under limited supervision, serves as a subject matter expert in public safety training in Impaired Driving & Speed Detection Training topics. Participates in needs assessment, research, design and evaluation of statewide public safety training programs. In-state and out of state travel for off-site and overnight training to include other GPSTC locations required.

Special Requirements:

  1. Must have excellent writing and research skills with advanced computer skills.

  2. Must have the ability teach complex topics in a clear, concise and easily understandable manner.

  3. Must possess exemplary skill and knowledge in law enforcement topics with the ability to research and develop lesson plans.

  4. Ability to work nights, weekends, and holidays.

Minimum Qualifications: Twenty-four months of work experience as a general instructor in various law enforcement topics with specialized instruction in traffic law and traffic enforcement, specifically in alcohol impaired driving, i.e. Standardized Field Sobriety Testing and Speed Detection (RADAR & LIDAR).

Preferred Qualifications: Preference may be given to those applicants who, in addition to meeting the minimum training and experience requirements, possess one or more of the following:

  • Have a minimum of four years’ recent law enforcement work experience;
  • Have specialization in an advanced subject area applicable to alcohol/drug impaired driving, i.e., Standardized Field Sobriety Testing, Advanced Roadside Impaired Driving Enforcement; RADAR & LIDAR.
  • Possess Georgia POST Certification as a General or Level 2 Instructor.

Required Certifications: Possession of Georgia POST General Instructor certification (Level 2 instructor) and any position specific certifications.

Other Remarks: Selected candidate subject to criminal records background and drug screening clearance. ** This position is not funded with state appropriated funds & will remain in place only as long as the grant funding is available.**

Minimum Qualifications: High school diploma/GED, Georgia P.O.S.T General Instructor certification, and eighteen (18) months of full-time instructor work-related experience in peace officer, correctional, fire service, EMS, or rescue topics applicable to the area of assignment, or two (2) years required work experience at the lower-level Public Safety, Trainer 2 (PSP031).--Note: Must be eligible to obtain required Georgia P.O.S.T. specialty instructor certifications, Basic Law Enforcement certification, or P.O.S.T. certification as a peace officer.
