Full job description

Post Doctoral Associate Neuroscience - Pennsylvania-Pittsburgh - ( 26004563 ) The Runyan Lab (runyanlab.org) in the Department of Neuroscience at the University of Pittsburgh invites applications for a postdoctoral associate in systems neuroscience. Our research is focused on determining the local circuit computations in the cerebral cortex, and how these are reshaped by internal states. A new research direction involves a collaboration with Josh Tenenbaum (MIT) to apply cognitive science models to neural activity in mice performing probabilistic inference tasks. As part of this project, the candidate will have the opportunity to learn computational cognitive modeling methods at MIT with the Tenenbaum group. Applicants must have a background in systems neuroscience with a PhD in neuroscience. The ideal candidate has experience in rodent physiology (either two-photon calcium imaging or large-scale electrophysiology), and behavior with possible interest in adding two-photon optogenetics and projection tracing. The Department of Neuroscience is part of a highly collaborative systems and computational neuroscience community situated on the Oakland campus of the University of Pittsburgh, and we are also affiliated with the Center for the Neural Basis of Cognition (https://www.cnbc.cmu.edu). Pittsburgh is a city that is often voted "most livable" in the nation. Further information about the Department of Neuroscience is available at: http://www.neuroscience.pitt.edu . The University of Pittsburgh is an equal opportunity employer. To apply, candidates should submit PDF documents of the following to Talent Center (htp://join.pitt.edu): (a) a letter of application, (b) a current CV, (c) a brief (2-3 pages) statement of research interests.
