About the role We’re seeking a high-impact Senior Engineering Manager to lead our Travel organization, spanning Travel Experience and Travel Integrations. This role reports to the Director of Engineering and will serve as a New York City site lead for the team. Together, Travel Experience and Travel Integrations own the end-to-end journey: booking orchestration, emerging AI-driven automation, flagship mobile and web experiences, and the provider integrations that broaden the travel options available to customers. You will lead and grow a senior-heavy engineering team across the U.S., Europe, and India. You will set a clear technical direction and operating rhythm across those locations while strengthening the team’s engineering presence in New York. You will help scale Travel into a seamless global platform. We’re looking for a technically sharp, execution-focused leader with deep ownership of product impact, system reliability, and the growth of experienced engineers. What you will do
- Own Travel Experience – Lead booking workflows across flights, hotels, and cars, including the evolution toward AI-assisted experiences.
- Expand Travel Integrations - Expand travel supply through new provider partnerships and integrations, adding rail and buses while deepening partnerships across flights, stays, and car rentals.
- Drive International Expansion – Scale the Travel platform for customers in the U.S. and other international markets, balancing local needs with a coherent global experience.
- Lead a Senior, Distributed Team – Coach Staff and Senior Engineers, delegate meaningful technical ownership, and establish effective collaboration across New York, Europe, and India.
- Serve as NYC Site Lead – Help set the engineering bar in New York through mentorship, hiring, and close partnership with local and global leaders.
- Partner to Complete the Suite – Work closely with Product and other engineering teams to navigate ambiguity and integrate Travel with the broader Spend ecosystem.
What you will need
- Proven Engineering Leadership – A track record of leading experienced backend or full-stack engineers, developing senior technical leaders, and delivering through teams spread across locations.
- Strong Technical Judgment – Depth in high-scale distributed systems or financial applications, and the ability to drive architecture and the technical roadmap alongside Staff-level engineers.
- Product and Execution Ownership – Sound judgment in balancing customer experience, delivery speed, and system reliability in a fast-moving environment.
- Domain Expertise – Familiarity with travel provider integrations, supply partnerships, NDC, ground transport, corporate policy engines, or high-throughput travel orchestration systems is strongly preferred.
