ABOUT THE ROLE

As a Multifamily Underwriter you will be responsible for assisting the ChiefUnderwriter, Deputy Chief Underwriter and Senior Underwriter in evaluatingMultifamily Affordable Housing loan requests, assessing key areas of risks andconformance with CMC, Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac credit standards and programrequirements. Prepares underwriting submissions for loan committee. Strong workethic and drive for excellence are essential to join this high-performanceteam.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Responsible for credit and real estate analysis, processing incomingexhibits and preparing final delivery underwriting packages. Preparation ofBorrower credit analysis including determination of net worth, liquidity,overall financial strength and acceptability of proposed borrower structure.

  • Prepares narrative and underwriting packages on new loan requests.

  • Reviews underwriting due diligence information and integrates realestate information from market research reports and other third-party sources.

  • Trains, plans and supervises assignments of underwriting analysts

  • Interfaces and collaborates with other internal teams, including productionanalysts, insurance and closing.

  • Other duties as assigned.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

No formal management responsibilities in this position. Providesinformal assistance such as technical guidance and training to coworkers. Maylead ad hoc project teams.

EXPERIENCE and EDUCATION

  • Experience underwriting Targeted Affordable Housing loans with a FannieMae DUS Lender or Freddie Mac TAH Seller/Servicer is highly desirable.

  • Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university required. Concentrationin Finance, Accounting, Economics, Real Estate or other related subjectpreferred. Minimum two years’ experience in analysis of commercial real estateproperties, including duties such as inspecting property, reviewing financialstatements, and underwriting loan transactions.

QUALIFICATIONS and SKILLS

  • Candidates must possess a strong work ethic, excellent writtencommunication and analytical skills, must be detail-oriented and possess theability to work effectively with other team members and Freddie Mac/Fannie Maein a fast- paced environment

  • Strong organizational skills required. Ability to provide efficient,timely, reliable and courteous service to customers. Ability to effectivelypresent information

  • Requires knowledge of financial terms and principles. Requiresintermediate analytical and quantitative skills to conduct financial analysis.

  • Ability to comprehend, analyze, and interpret documents. Ability tosolve problems involving several options in situations.

  • Must make decisions with an understanding of procedures and companypolicies to achieve set results and deadlines. Responsible for setting interim projectdeadlines

  • Proficient in AI prompts and skills and well as common Microsoftapplications, including Word, Excel and PowerPoint.

  • Will be required to travel as needed.

  • NOTE: In addition to a resume, you must submit a cover letter outlining yourinterest in Multifamily Affordable Housing and the Underwriter role anddescribing the relevance of your professional and academic background. Strongwritten communication skills are imperative for the position. The cover letterwill be used to assess writing ability.

CBRE carefully considers multiple factors to determine compensation, including a candidate’s education, training, and experience. The minimum salary for the Underwriter - Multifamily Affordable position is $90,000 annually and the maximum salary for the Underwriter - Multifamily Affordable position is $120,000 annually. The compensation that is offered to a successful candidate will depend on the candidate’s skills, qualifications, and experience. Successful candidates will also be eligible for a discretionary bonus based on CBRE’s applicable benefit program. This role will provide the following benefits: 401(K), Dental insurance, Health insurance, Life insurance, and Vision insurance.
