We are seeking applicants for a Clinician/START Coordinator on our Developmental Disabilities Crisis Prevention and Court Services (CPCS) team. This position has the flexibility of being stationed out of our Downtown Boise, Nampa, or Twin Falls office, with coverage of regions 3 (Caldwell/Nampa), 4 (Boise) and 5(Twin Falls). This position requires travel between regions 3, 4, and 5 with possible overnight stays.
The Crisis Prevention and Court Services (CPCS) Team is an inter-disciplinary team certified in the nationally recognized START (Systemic, Therapeutic, Assessment, Resources, and Treatment) Model which uses best practice standards established by the National Center for START Services® (NCSS). NCSS is an initiative that works to strengthen efficiencies and service outcomes for people with IDD and mental health needs in the community. It is a person-centered, solutions-focused approach that employs positive psychology and other evidence-based practices.
As a START Coordinator, you will deliver and coordinate START clinical services for an assigned caseload, applying the nationally recognized START (Systemic, Therapeutic, Assessment, Resources, and Treatment) Model. In this role, you will collaborate with people enrolled, families, providers, and systems of care to strengthen supports, promote stability and well-being, prevent crises, and reduce reliance on emergency and inpatient services.
This position may be eligible for limited telework after successful completion of probation and necessary training. Approval to telecommute is not guaranteed and subject to termination at any time.
The Idaho Department of Health & Welfare is a drug-free workplace. EXAMPLE OF DUTIES:Deliver and coordinate START clinical services for an assigned caseload, including biopsychosocial assessments, outreach, training, and system-level interventions.

Facilitate collaboration among individuals, families, residential and day providers, healthcare professionals, and other system partners to strengthen coordinated care.

Develop and implement individualized, proactive crisis prevention and intervention strategies based on START principles.
-
Participate in rotational on-call coverage, including crisis response, comprehensive assessment, and disposition planning.
-
Complete and maintain START assessments, plans, crisis prevention and intervention plans, and other required documentation in accordance with model fidelity and regulatory standards.
-
Enter accurate and timely client and program data into the START Information Reporting System (SIRS).
-
Participate in ongoing training, clinical supervision, and fidelity-driven practice improvement to support evidence-informed service delivery.
-
Maintain current knowledge of regional and statewide mental health and developmental disability services, resources, and applicable regulations.
-
Participate in department and community projects and provide educational and marketing presentations to families, providers, professional groups, government agencies, and other community partners.
-
Attend required meetings, trainings, and workgroups; complete assigned documentation; and provide backup and coverage for coworkers as needed.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
You must possess all the specialty minimum qualifications below to pass the exam for this position. Please make sure your resume or work history supports your meeting the minimum and specialty qualifications for this position. Failure to do this may disqualify you from being considered for this position. It is highly recommended to attach a one-page cover letter to your application to demonstrate how you meet the requirements below.
- A Master's degree (or higher) in a direct clinical practice Human Services field is required for this position. (Master's degree in social work, psychology, marriage and family counseling, marriage and family therapy, psychosocial rehabilitation counseling, psychiatric nursing, or very closely related field of study) in accordance with Idaho Codes: 54-3206, 54-3402, 54-3405, and 54-3214.
SPECIALTY MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Requires licensure in a professional specialty in one of the following areas: Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW) or Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) in accordance with Idaho Code 54-3206, Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in accordance with Idaho Code 54-3405, Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) in accordance with Idaho Code 54-3405. Below is preferred experience. It is not required for the position but applicants with this experience may receive consideration over other applicants.

A valid driver's license. Must be at least 21 years of age and meet eligibility requirements to drive a state vehicle.

Ability and commitment to complete START Coordinator Certification within 12 months of hire.
