Full job description

The Office of State Parks (OSP) serves the citizens of Louisiana and visitors by preserving and interpreting natural areas of unique or exceptional scenic value, planning, developing and operating sites that provide outdoor recreation opportunities in natural surroundings, preserving and interpreting historical and scientific sites of statewide importance and administering intergovernmental programs related to outdoor recreation and trails. The purpose of this position is to maintain the cleanliness and maintenance of park buildings and rental facilities as well as the grounds. No experience or training required.The official job specifications for this role, as defined by the State Civil Service, can be found here.Job Duties:

  • Performs custodial duties necessary to maintain clean and sanitary conditions of the park.

  • Clean site's grounds, campsites, and cabin porches - collect litter, debris, and trash.

  • Use and maintain assigned power equipment and hand tools: buffers, auto scrubbers, extractors, high pressure washers, high speed buffers and vacuums, brooms, mops, and squeegees for the cleaning and general maintenance of floors, walls, carpets, furniture, etc.

  • Provides a high level of customer service.

  • Performs any related duties necessary to maintain and improve the appearance of the grounds to enhance the visitor's experience.

  • Assist in repairing broken equipment, water pipes, furniture, etc.

  • Assists in maintenance when needed.

  • Requires ability to stoop, bend, balance, kneel, crouch, sit, stand and walk on a regular daily basis.

Position-Specific Details: Location: Fontainebleau State Park, Mandeville, LA Appointment Type: This position will be filled as a part-time Classified WAE, limited to 1,245 working hours in a 12-month period.Starting Hourly Pay varies, depending on experience. Louisiana as a State, is a Model Employer for People with Disabilities.
