Full job description

Description

Schedule/Per diem requirements: 64 hours per 8-week time block, rotating between days, and nights, including weekend/holiday requirement. Shifts are typically, 7am-7pm or 7pm-7am.

Pay Range: $26.75 - $34.00, based on experience.

Job Objectives

  • To directly assist, within the sterile operative field, the Surgeon & First Assistant during surgery by assuring that a sterile environment is maintained & all necessary surgical instruments/supplies are readily available to the surgeons.

  • Actively guards the confidentiality of sensitive information including but not limited to the patients, staff, and the health system.

  • The ability to develop & maintain collaborative working relationships with members of the interdisciplinary team.

  • On the weekend shift there will also be quality assurance work, prepping and stocking if surgeries are not taking place.

  • Adheres and contributes to the patient treatment plan under the direction of the RN, collecting data for the RN to interpret.

  • Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patient.

  • Lives the CARES values.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assures a safe and efficient environment is provided for the surgical patient by preparing for each assigned case.

  • Assures overall efficiency of department by effectively clearing Operating Room following the case.

  • Assures an optimal perioperative environment to meet the needs of the patient.

  • Provides appropriate and quality care based on the results of current nursing research and quality improvement monitoring results.

  • Demonstrates the ability to work independently and exhibits flexibility in decision making and prioritizingassignments.

Requirements:

  • National Surgical Technology certification or credentialed/grandfathered by NYS per 1/21/15 DOH regulation (2824)

  • BLS Certification required.

  • Previous experience as a surgical scrub tech strongly preferred.

  • On-call requirements required based on unit needs.

Pay Range: $26.75 - $34.00
