Investment Banking Sophomore Bootcamp

The Raymond James Investment Banking Sophomore Bootcamp is a virtual development and recruiting program designed for high-performing sophomore students who are interested in exploring a career in investment banking. Through the series of three virtual sessions, the program provides participants with early exposure to Raymond James Investment Banking, insight into the role of an Investment Banking Analyst, and preparation for the recruiting process.

Successful Bootcamp participants may receive coaching and early consideration as recruiting begins for the 2028 Summer Analyst class.

During the Bootcamp, participants will gain exposure to how investment bankers advise corporations on strategic and financial matters, including raising capital, public and private financings, mergers and acquisitions, and other financial advisory assignments.

Participants will also:

  • Learn about the day-to-day responsibilities of an Investment Banking Analyst.

  • Gain exposure to Raymond James' industry and product groups.

  • Hear directly from bankers about their career paths and experiences at Raymond James.

  • Develop a better understanding of investment banking transactions and the role analysts play throughout the deal process.

  • Receive guidance from Investment Banking Recruiting on the recruiting process, application expectations and timeline.

  • Build relationships with Raymond James professionals and other students interested in investment banking.

  • Prepare for the next stage of recruiting for the 2028 Investment Banking Summer Analyst Program.

Who Is Eligible?

We are seeking ambitious, curious and highly motivated sophomore students with a demonstrated interest in investment banking and a desire to learn more about Raymond James.

Candidates should meet the following criteria:

  • Currently enrolled in an accredited U.S. university with an anticipated graduation date between December 2028 and June 2029.

  • Pursuing a degree in accounting, computer science, data science, economics, engineering, finance, information systems, marketing, management, mathematics, statistics or another business-related field.

  • Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale preferred.

  • Demonstrated interest in investment banking, finance, capital markets and/or working with corporate clients.

  • Strong academic achievement, leadership, extracurricular involvement and/or relevant professional experience.

  • Eligible applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States and not require visa sponsorship now or in the future, including beyond OPT/EAD.

The Next Step: 2028 Investment Banking Summer Analyst Program

Following the Bootcamp, eligible participants may be considered for opportunities to advance into the recruiting process for the 2028 Investment Banking Summer Analyst Program. Participation in the Bootcamp does not constitute an offer for a Summer Analyst position or guarantee advancement in the Summer Analyst selection process.

About the 2028 Investment Banking Summer Analyst Program

The 2028 Investment Banking Summer Analyst Program is a opportunity within Raymond James Capital Markets & Advisory. Summer Analysts join a specific industry or product-focused Investment Banking team and are given meaningful responsibility on matters of business significance.

During the internship, Summer Analysts gain hands-on transaction experience across financial products and advisory assignments that may include public and private debt and equity financings, mergers and acquisitions, and other strategic advisory engagements.

Summer Analysts may have the opportunity to:

  • Develop financial models to evaluate debt and equity financing alternatives.

  • Perform valuation analyses, including comparable company and discounted cash flow analyses.

  • Conduct company, industry and transaction research.

  • Support equity offerings, private placements, mergers and acquisitions, and other advisory assignments.

  • Create presentations and other materials for current and prospective clients.

  • Work alongside senior bankers to develop strategies and recommendations for clients.

  • Participate in transaction execution, due diligence, drafting sessions and new business development.

  • Analyze industry trends, market developments and current events relevant to clients and transactions.

Successful Summer Analysts demonstrate strong analytical and problem-solving skills, attention to detail, intellectual curiosity, effective written and verbal communication, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
