About Clark

Clark is building the trust infrastructure for the AI economy. We help accounting and audit firms adopt AI safely by creating systems that improve reliability, accuracy, and operational trust. We're an in-person team based in NYC and move quickly. Engineers at Clark work closely with customers, product, and leadership to solve real operational problems.

The Role

We're hiring a Forward Deployed Engineer (E2) to work directly with customers while building technical solutions that help them successfully deploy and use Clark. Forward Deployed Engineers sit between engineering and customers. You'll spend time understanding customer workflows, configuring solutions, building lightweight integrations, troubleshooting issues, and partnering with the engineering team to improve the product. This role is ideal for early-career engineers who enjoy both technical problem solving and working directly with people. You'll have significant exposure to customers, product decisions, and real-world AI deployments while developing strong software engineering and systems-thinking skills.

What You'll Do

  • Work directly with customers during onboarding and implementation

  • Learn customer workflows and help translate requirements into technical solutions

  • Configure and deploy Clark solutions in customer environments

  • Build lightweight integrations and internal tooling

  • Investigate customer issues and partner with engineering to resolve them

  • Test product features and provide implementation feedback

  • Document implementation processes and best practices

  • Support customer launches and deployments

  • Collaborate with engineers, product, and founders on customer needs

  • Grow into owning larger implementation projects over time

What We're Looking For

  • 0-3 years of software engineering, implementation, solutions engineering, or technical experience

  • Comfortable writing code in Python, JavaScript, TypeScript, or similar languages

  • Strong curiosity and willingness to learn quickly

  • Clear communicator who enjoys working directly with customers

  • Able to break down technical concepts into simple explanations

  • Highly organized and detail-oriented

  • Comfortable operating in a fast-moving startup environment

  • Strong ownership mindset and bias toward action

Nice to Have

  • Internship or professional experience building software products

  • Experience working with APIs

  • Experience with AI tools, LLMs, or workflow automation

  • Experience with SQL, data analysis, or business operations tooling

  • Startup experience

  • Customer-facing experience

What Success Looks Like

Within your first 6 months, you'll:

  • Successfully support multiple customer deployments

  • Become proficient in Clark's product and infrastructure

  • Independently handle well-defined implementation tasks

  • Build internal tools and automations that improve customer operations

  • Develop strong relationships with customers and internal stakeholders

Why Join Clark?

  • Meaningful equity ownership

  • Work directly with founders and customers

  • Learn how AI systems are deployed in production environments

  • Small, high-talent-density team

  • Rapid career growth opportunities

  • In-person NYC culture focused on learning and execution
