Position Overview

The Fashion Director Assistant partners with the Fashion Director to shape seasonal trend direction, product strategy, and brand alignment across key merchandise categories. This role plays a critical part in identifying and interpreting emerging fashion trends, analyzing market insights, and influencing assortment decisions that reflect Burlington’s brand identity and customer needs. Acting as a strategic thought partner, the Fashion Director Assistant drives cross-functional alignment and ensures consistency in storytelling and execution across merchandising, marketing, and vendor touchpoints.

A Day in the Life

Trend Forecasting and Analysis: Lead trend monitoring by analyzing fashion, consumer, and cultural insights. Synthesize findings into clear, actionable recommendations that guide merchant strategies. Present seasonal direction and insights to cross-functional partners and leadership. Product Assortment Planning: Partner with merchants to influence seasonal assortment strategies, ensuring alignment with brand values and customer expectations. Recommend and validate key styles, colors, and silhouettes through data insights and market testing. Anticipate emerging opportunities and provide direction to maximize business results. Merchandising Strategy: Drive execution of fashion direction through seasonal forecast decks, trend alerts, and strategic guidance. Ensure brand consistency and elevate product storytelling across marketing and merchandising channels. Deliver presentations that influence senior leaders and cross-divisional teams. Cross-Functional Collaboration: Act as a connector across marketing, planning, store operations, and other functions to ensure cohesive implementation of fashion strategy. Represent the Fashion office in strategic meetings and projects, ensuring fashion direction is embedded in decision-making. Team Support and Development: Mentor and coach junior staff, contributing to their professional growth and fostering a collaborative team environment. Partner with the Fashion Director on cross-divisional initiatives and long-range planning.

You'll Come With

Education and Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Fashion Merchandising, Marketing, Business Administration, or related field preferred. 5+ years of experience in a fashion, buying, merchandising, or product development environment

Skills and Abilities:

  • Expertise in trend forecasting and market analysis, with the ability to translate insights into actionable business strategies.
  • Strong cross-functional collaboration and vendor management skills to drive alignment and results.
  • Excellent communication and presentation abilities, with confidence influencing senior leaders.
  • Proven organizational skills with the ability to manage priorities, timelines, and go-to-market
  • milestones.
  • Strong visual, written, and verbal communication skills
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and trend tools (e.g., WGSN)

Individual pay decisions will be based on a variety of factors, such as but not limited to, qualifications, education, job-related skills, relevant experience, and geographic location.

Compensation Range: $65,000.00 - $80,000.00
