What you'll do...

Role summary:

As an Associate Merchant, you will support category management by facilitating supplier negotiations, managing purchase orders, and resolving supplier-related issues to ensure accurate product setup across stores and online channels. This role involves collaborating with cross-functional teams to execute customer communication programs, analyze sales and inventory data, and contribute to budgeting and forecasting efforts. You will also support promotional activities and modular assortment implementation, leveraging data insights to enhance category performance while maintaining alignment with organizational goals and delivering a seamless customer experience.

About the team:

The Dog Food, Livestock & Equine team plays a key role in Walmart’s commitment to being a leading pet destination. Managing a broad portfolio including dog food, poultry, livestock, and equine products, the team serves a wide range of customers. Combining customer insights, merchandising expertise, and strong supplier partnerships, the team builds relevant assortments, delivers value, introduces new brands, and enhances shopping experiences across stores and eCommerce. This team continuously evolves to expand Walmart’s presence in these categories while identifying new opportunities to support customers and drive business growth.

What you'll do:

  • Support merchants in supplier negotiations and manage purchase orders for assigned categories.

  • Assist in resolving supplier issues and facilitate the setup of new suppliers for stores and online channels.

  • Execute customer communication and education programs in collaboration with cross-functional teams.

  • Maintain accuracy and quality of product page content, ensuring compliance with taxonomy guidelines.

  • Analyze sales and category performance data to support budgeting, forecasting, and inventory planning.

  • Implement approved promotional features and modular assortment strategies across channels.

  • Leverage data tools to generate insights and support technology adoption within the category.

What you'll bring:

  • Proven experience in vendor relationship management and supplier negotiations within retail or e-commerce environments.

  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret sales and business data to support category strategy and forecasting.

  • Proficiency in managing product assortment, pricing, and item setup to optimize customer experience across channels.

  • Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and support category administration and promotional activities.

  • Detail-oriented with experience in purchase order management and resolving supplier-related issues.

  • Familiarity with digital tools for data analysis and reporting to drive informed decision-making.

The annual salary range for this position is $70,000.00 - $130,000.00 Additional compensation includes annual or quarterly performance bonuses. Additional compensation for certain positions may also include :
