Full job description

Elementary School Social Worker, Long Term Reserve Location: Kimberly Lane Elementary School FTE: 1.0 Each Starting Fall 2026 Compensation Range: $284.28/Day - $331.98/Day *This position is not health or dental benefit eligible

Position Description: Wayzata Public Schools is currently seeking a School Social Worker with the ability, skills, and training necessary to work with a broad array of students with and without disabilities in an elementary school setting.

Responsibilities include:

  • Consultation to special education and pre-referral intervention teams
  • Parent contact
  • Individual and small group support to students with social, emotional and behavioral issues
  • Crisis intervention and prevention
  • 504 plan creation and communication, as needed

Qualifications:

  • MN teaching license, School Counselor license OR Social Work license from Board of Social Work and Board of Teaching required
  • Training and skill in working with diverse populations is desirable
  • Experience and willingness to work on general education teams and provide collaborative special education services with general education teachers is required
  • Interest in and ability to relate well to elementary school students with and without disabilities.
  • Experience working with youth with mental health concerns
