Full job description
Teleion is Looking for a Business Intelligence Project Manager to Join our Team!
- Must be living in the following states to be considered: Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Iowa, Montana, North Carolina, South Dakota, Texas, Washington, Wisconsin.
The ideal candidate is someone who can operate as both a strong technical BI practitioner and a seasoned project leader. This isn't a traditional PM role bolted onto a BI team; it's for someone who can get into the data and architecture conversations with engineers and analysts, while also owning timelines, stakeholders, and delivery like a career project manager. You'll lead BI/analytics initiatives end-to-end: scoping, resourcing, execution, and stakeholder communication, while staying technically credible enough to guide design decisions and unblock the team.
Key Responsibilities
Project & Program Leadership
-
Own end-to-end delivery of BI/analytics projects — scoping, planning, resourcing, and execution across small-to-large initiatives
-
Manage timelines, budgets, risks, and dependencies across multiple concurrent workstreams
-
Translate business/client requirements into clear technical scope and delivery plans
-
Communicate proactively with internal and external stakeholders, managing expectations and surfacing risks early
-
Run standard PM cadences (status reporting, roadmaps, retros) tailored to a technical BI audience
Technical / BI Leadership
-
Partner directly with data engineers and analysts on SQL, Python, and cloud data architecture (AWS/Redshift or equivalent) decisions
-
Evaluate and advise on BI/analytics tooling and strategy (e.g., QuickSight, Tableau, Power BI)
-
Provide informed technical oversight on data governance, data integration, and ETL processes — enough to ask the right questions and catch issues before they become delivery risks
-
Support complex analyses and big data initiatives by understanding the underlying technical approach, not just the project plan around it
Team & Stakeholder Development
-
Mentor and support junior team members in both technical and project-delivery skills
-
Act as the primary interface between technical teams and business/client stakeholders, translating in both directions
-
Build trust with senior stakeholders as a credible voice on both "can we build this" and "when will it be done"
Qualifications
-
7+ years of experience in project/program management, with a significant portion in BI, data, or analytics environments
-
Working technical fluency in SQL required; hands-on experience with Python and cloud data platforms (AWS/Redshift or similar) strongly preferred
-
Demonstrated experience managing BI/analytics tooling decisions or strategy (e.g., QuickSight, Tableau, Power BI, Looker)
-
Strong track record managing stakeholder relationships, including with external/client stakeholders
-
Experience with data governance and ETL/data integration concepts
-
PMP, Scrum Master, or equivalent certification a plus, but not required in lieu of real delivery experience
-
Excellent written and verbal communication — able to flex between technical and executive audiences
