About the role: We're looking for an HR Generalist & Benefits Partner to be the in-person face of HR for our team. Based in our Broomfield office, you'll be the go-to partner for employees and managers on everyday people questions, while supporting colleagues across North America. You'll also be our primary point of contact for benefits. You'll partner closely with our benefits broker, run open enrollment, administer leaves of absence, and make sure employees understand and get the most from their benefits. This role is a good fit for someone who enjoys being on the floor with people, likes owning a program end to end, and is comfortable balancing day-to-day support with process and compliance work. What you'll do: Employee & manager partnership

  • Serve as the onsite, face-to-face HR partner for the Broomfield office, and a trusted virtual resource for employees across North America.
  • Advise employees and managers on policies, performance conversations, employee relations, and workplace concerns.
  • Conduct and document employee relations investigations in partnership with HR leadership and legal as needed.
  • Coach managers on day-to-day people issues, documentation, and consistent application of policy.
  • Support onboarding and off-boarding, including new-hire orientation, exit interviews, and separation logistics.
  • Help shape culture and engagement in the Broomfield office through events, recognition, and employee feedback.

Benefits administration

  • Act as the primary benefits point of contact for employees, answering questions on medical, dental, vision, life, disability, FSA/HSA, and EAP.
  • Partner closely with our benefits broker on plan renewals, vendor issues, claims escalations, and plan design input.
  • Own open enrollment end to end: timeline, employee communications, info sessions, system setup, and post-enrollment audits.
  • Manage benefits eligibility, qualifying life events, and carrier and payroll feeds to ensure data accuracy.
  • Reconcile monthly benefit invoices and resolve discrepancies with carriers.
  • Support Canadian benefits administration in coordination with our providers.

Leaves of absence

  • Administer leaves end to end, including FMLA, ADA accommodations, short- and long-term disability, parental leave, and state and provincial programs (e.g., Colorado FAMLI).
  • Guide employees through the leave process with clear, compassionate communication.
  • Coordinate with managers, payroll, and leave/disability carriers on approvals, pay, and return-to-work plans.

Compliance, data & process

  • Maintain compliance with federal, state, and provincial employment and benefits requirements (e.g., ERISA, COBRA, ACA, HIPAA).
  • Support annual filings and testing in partnership with the broker and vendors (e.g., ACA reporting, 5500s, nondiscrimination testing).
  • Maintain accurate employee records in our HRIS and generate reports as needed.
  • Identify opportunities to improve HR and benefits processes, documentation, and the employee experience.

What you'll bring: Required:

  • 4+ years of HR generalist experience, including meaningful hands-on benefits administration.
  • Experience running open enrollment and working directly with a benefits broker and carriers.
  • Working knowledge of leave administration (FMLA, ADA, STD/LTD) and related compliance.
  • Solid understanding of US employment law and benefits regulations (ERISA, COBRA, ACA, HIPAA).
  • Strong judgment and discretion with confidential information.
  • Clear, approachable communication style; comfortable with both employees and senior leaders.
  • Experience with an HRIS and benefits administration platform; strong Excel skills.
  • Ability to work onsite in Broomfield, CO with 1 day per week spent in our Longmont, CO Production facility.

Preferred:

  • Bachelor's degree in HR, business, or a related field.
  • SHRM-CP/SCP, PHR/SPHR, or CEBS certification.
  • Experience with Canadian benefits or employment requirements.
  • Experience with Colorado FAMLI and other state paid leave programs.
  • Background in a growing, multi-state or multi-country organization, ideally in energy or technology.
  • Experience using Rippling HRIS.
