Job Summary Provides pre-hospital patient care in emergency and non-emergency situations. Responsibilities include assessing patient conditions, delivering basic life support (BLS), administering emergency care, and safely transporting patients to healthcare facilities. Collaborates with healthcare professionals, documents patient care accurately, and ensures compliance with all regulatory and organizational standards.

Essential Functions

  • All team members are expected to be knowledgeable and compliant with Prisma Health's purpose:  Inspire health.  Serve with compassion.  Be the difference.

  • Assesses patients’ conditions to determine appropriate emergency care.

  • Provides CPR, airway management, oxygen therapy, bleeding control, and other basic life support interventions.

  • Administers first aid, manage medical emergencies, and provide support during traumatic injuries or illness.

  • Safely transport patients to healthcare facilities using emergency vehicles while adhering to traffic laws and organizational policies.

  • Completes patient care reports, maintaining compliance with legal, regulatory, and organizational standards.

  • Communicates e with patients, families, healthcare providers, and emergency response teams.

  • Ensures all medical equipment, supplies, and vehicles are properly maintained, stocked, and operational.

  • Follows all safety protocols, infection control procedures, and regulatory requirements.

  • Participates in ongoing training, skill development, and certification maintenance to ensure clinical competency.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Supervisory/Management Responsibilities

  • This is a non-management job that will report to a supervisor, manager, director or executive.

Minimum Requirements

  • Education - High School diploma or equivalent OR post-high school diploma/highest degree earned preferred.

  • Experience - Pre-Hospital Care Experience preferred

Required Certifications, Registrations, Licenses

  • Valid driver’s license and an acceptable motor vehicle record as defined by the Acceptable Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) Chart.

  • SC Emergency Medical Technician (EMT)

  • National Registry of EMT (NREMT)

  • Basic Cardiac Life Support (BLS/BCLS)

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Ability to demonstrate skill proficiency on an annual basis.

  • Ability to maintain Professional Certifications by Attending In-service Training Programs.

  • Ability to attend staff meetings

  • Ability to comply with Employee Health requirements

  • Ability to complete mandatory Employee Training Programs

  • Communication skills

  • Critical thinking skills

  • Ability to work effectively in high-stress, fast-paced environments.
