Job Title: Technician Aircraft Pilot Seat Support

Job Description

This role provides hands-on technical support for aircraft pilot seats, focusing on the repair, maintenance, and troubleshooting of mechanical, electrical, and upholstery components. You will work primarily at a dedicated facility, using hand and power tools and following computerized component maintenance manuals, while also occasionally traveling to aircraft factories for on-site installs, removals, and issue resolution. The position combines practical, detail-oriented repair work with significant documentation and computer-based tracking, and involves regular communication with customers and internal engineering and technical support teams.

Responsibilities

  • Repair aircraft pilot seats by removing and replacing mechanical, electrical, and upholstery components using hand tools and occasional power tools.

  • Follow computerized component maintenance manuals and technical documentation to perform accurate and compliant repairs.

  • Inspect incoming seats for transport damage, missing parts, or configuration changes required by new engineering work orders, and perform the necessary corrective actions.

  • Perform on-site installs, removals, and troubleshooting at aircraft factories as needed, traveling by company vehicle.

  • Interface professionally with customers by phone, email, and in person to understand issues, provide updates, and ensure repairs meet expectations.

  • Collaborate with home office engineering and technical support staff to resolve complex technical problems and implement engineering changes.

  • Complete detailed documentation for each repair, including recording work performed, parts used, and status updates.

  • Use SAP for basic data entry and tracking of work orders, parts, and repair status.

  • Maintain and update tracking spreadsheets in Excel to monitor work progress and component usage.

  • Read and interpret blueprints, electrical schematics, service and maintenance drawings, and assembly instructions to guide repair activities.

  • Follow established procedures and processes consistently, including documentation standards and quality requirements.

  • Support major projects involving multiple seats, such as large-scale component replacements or configuration changes.

  • Assist in organizing and maintaining the shop area, including seat storage, parts inventory, and workstations.

  • Participate in training and mentoring activities, both as a trainee and, over time, as one of the sites two Field Service Mechanics.

  • Adhere to safety protocols and best practices while working with tools, equipment, and aircraft components.

  • Remain flexible to varying workloads, from light days with a few seats to heavier periods with significant project demands.

  • Be available for occasional on-site support at factories over multiple consecutive days when required.

  • Support rare on-call weekend needs when issues arise that require timely attention.

Essential Skills

  • Experience using hand tools for repair or assembly of mechanical components.

  • Ability to use power tools safely and effectively for component removal and installation.

  • Proficiency in reading blueprints and technical instructions in English.

  • Ability to read and interpret electrical, service, maintenance, and assembly drawings.

  • Excellent communication skills in English, both spoken and written, for interacting with customers and internal teams.

  • Demonstrated ability to learn new processes and procedures, including documentation standards and computer-based systems.

  • Proficient computer data entry skills, including use of SAP for basic tracking and Excel for work monitoring.

  • Presentable, customer-focused mindset with a professional appearance and demeanor when working on-site or with clients.

  • Strong attention to detail and consistency in following procedures and documentation requirements.

  • Eligibility to work as a US Person in accordance with customer requirements.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience with aircraft interior component repair, particularly seating, is preferred.

  • Familiarity with technical drawings and Component Maintenance Manuals (CMM) is an advantage.

  • Experience in a field service or on-site technical support environment is beneficial.

  • Comfort working in a small, close-knit team environment with shared responsibilities.

  • Willingness to travel locally to aircraft factories for on-site support using a company vehicle.

  • Openness to continuous training and mentoring to grow into a Field Service Mechanic role at the site.

Why Work Here?

You join a highly stable organization that offers consistent, full-time hours with no risk of losing work due to fluctuating seat volume. The company provides excellent benefits, including a company-paid 401(k) contribution ranging from 3% to 10% based on yearly performance, creating strong potential for long-term retirement and wealth-building. You work a steady day shift with some flexibility in start and end times, and receive comprehensive training to succeed in a specialized technical field. The culture emphasizes a small-team environment with minimal corporate interference, allowing you to focus on quality work, professional pride, and long-term financial security.

Work Environment

You will work as part of a very small, close-knit team functioning as in-house, on-site technical support for sophisticated pilot seats used in commercial aircraft. The primary location is a large facility in Kent that includes a loading dock, open storage areas for seats, parts inventory, and multiple workstations equipped with tools for removal and replacement of seat components. Most work is performed at this facility, but you will occasionally travel in a company van to aircraft factories for on-site installs, removals, and troubleshooting. The workload varies: some days involve only a few seats in the shop, while other periods require major projects where dozens of seats need component replacement or configuration changes, and at times you may spend several consecutive days at a factory resolving issues. The standard schedule is a 40-hour workweek on day shift, typically 6:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., with some flexibility (for example, 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.), and rare on-call weekend requirements. You will receive structured training and mentorship from a lead technician, and will ultimately operate as one of the two Field Service Mechanics at the site. Dress and presentation should be professional and suitable for both a hands-on shop environment and customer-facing factory visits.
