BAE Systems in Jacksonville, Florida is seeking a Quality Inspector. In this role as a Quality Inspector, your duties will include:

Receives instructions and work orders from Quality Manager, Quality Engineer or Lead person designated by BAE management.

Assures continuity of production by performing quality inspections, during repair cycles as directed by the Quality Manager, and other tasks as required by instruction or specification.

Refers to sources of inspection criteria such as drawings, sketches, inspection procedures, military and commercial specifications, purchase orders, technical handbooks and charts, supplemental quality assurance requirements.

Performs inspections consisting of but not limited to; completeness of weldments/assemblies, visual weld, Magnetic Particle, Dye Penetrant, cleanliness, and damage per applicable drawings/specifications and determines appropriate disposition.

Records accept/reject disposition via the appropriate BAE electronic filing repository and completes necessary inspection reports as dictated by contract or purchase order.

Utilizes equipment consisting of but not limited to; standard measuring equipment, functional gauges and functional test equipment associated with VT, MT and PT inspections.

Marks questionable areas for rework/repair, when applicable.

Accesses ship/assemblies by ladders, Manlifts, scaffolding, etc. May require bending, stooping, crawling, reaching, and awkward positioning to access inspection components and weldments.

Assures continuity of production by performing quality inspections and other tasks as required by instruction or specification.
Required Education, Experience, & Skills
-
Typically requires High School diploma or the equivalent and certification as a VT Level II inspector per SNT-TC-1A, meeting all minimum requirements for classroom training and experience time. Must provide documented proof of training and experience.

Ability to pass BAE Systems VT, MT and PT level II certification exams.

Experienced reading technical documents such as drawings, specifications, purchase orders, etc.

Understanding of Weld symbols and their uses

Experience with Tech Pubs: T9074-AS-GIB-010/271, T9074-AD-GIB-010/1688 and MIL-STD-1689

Understanding of the imperial measurement system and the metric system, conversions, fractions and decimal equivalents

Basic computer and data entry skills. Familiarity with MS Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.

Physically able to access ships to obtain inspection data. This includes both fitness to climb in and around ships. Required vision screening for compliance with maintaining VT, MT and PT certifications. May require bending, stooping, crawling, reaching, awkward positioning and lifting up to 40lbs, unassisted.
Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills

Various Weld Inspection tools and gauges such as weld fillet gauges and V-Wac gauges

Standard measuring equipment such as 6 rule, tape measure and combination squares
-
MT Yokes and associated equipment (pie gauge, gauss meter, etc.)

PT dyes and associated materials (application of penetrant, remover and developer)
-
Computer equipment and programs
Pay Information
Full-Time Salary Range: $60016 - $96026
Please note: This range is based on our market pay structures. However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.
