KBR is seeking a Principal Software Architect and Development Lead to serve as the software discipline lead for engineering and development activities.Provide technical leadership and architectural oversight for software products, IR&D projects, and innovation initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead development teams in the design, implementation, testing, and deployment of modern software solutions.

  • Define and maintain software architecture standards and best practices.

  • Lead AI/ML, cloud, and digital transformation initiatives.

  • Conduct architecture reviews and code reviews while enforcing software quality standards.

  • Mentor software engineers and provide technical guidance across programs.

  • Support hiring activities including interviewing, candidate selection, onboarding, and workforce development.

  • Partner with leadership to develop and execute software strategy and technology roadmaps.

  • Collaborate with customers, program managers, engineers, and stakeholders to deliver mission-focused software capabilities.

Work Environment:

  • Location: Remote, Willing to travel 1-3 times per quarter

  • Travel Requirements: Minimal 0-20%

  • Working Hours: Standard

Required Qualifications:

Clearance: Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance

Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, or related technical discipline15+ years of software engineering experienceExperience leading software development teams or engineering organizationsExpertise architecting complex cloud-based and distributed software systemsProficiency in PythonExperience with APIs, CI/CD pipelines, and DevSecOps methodologiesExperience with Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning technologiesExperience with database technologies
