Full job description

Description

We are looking for a Project Accountant to join our team in Blue Bell, Pennsylvania in a contract-to-permanent capacity. This role supports the financial administration of project-based work by managing contract setup, invoicing, cost tracking, and billing accuracy across active assignments. The ideal candidate brings strong project accounting experience within construction or consulting services environments and is comfortable working closely with project managers and internal stakeholders to maintain financial integrity throughout the project lifecycle.

Responsibilities:

  • Establish new projects in financial systems by interpreting contract terms, building budgets, applying billing structures, and configuring rate schedules and markups.

  • Prepare and finalize client invoices by reviewing draft billings, incorporating project manager updates, and ensuring all supporting documentation meets customer requirements.

  • Monitor accounts receivable activity, follow up on outstanding balances, and help maintain timely collection of past-due invoices.

  • Review employee timesheets for accuracy, process needed corrections, and support proper allocation of labor charges to the appropriate projects.

  • Examine expense submissions and reconcile project-level financial activity, including adjustments, credits, and debits.

  • Oversee subcontractor billing records, validate pay applications, and confirm that billing practices align with contract terms and payment timelines.

  • Maintain accurate project financial data across systems such as Infor, Deltek, or comparable enterprise platforms.

  • Use Excel tools such as PivotTables and lookup functions to analyze project costs, billing details, and financial trends.

  • Partner with project leaders and accounting teams to resolve discrepancies and support consistent financial reporting throughout project execution.

Requirements

  • Demonstrated experience in project accounting, preferably supporting construction projects or contract-driven services work.

  • Hands-on knowledge of billing, revenue tracking, budget setup, and financial administration for active projects.

  • Proficiency with Deltek, Infor, or other large-scale accounting or ERP systems.

  • Strong Excel skills, including the ability to work with PivotTables and lookup formulas for reporting and analysis.

  • Familiarity with contract review and the ability to translate financial terms into accurate project setup and billing structures.

  • Understanding of subcontractor invoicing, expense review, timekeeping validation, and accounts receivable follow-up.

  • High attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple priorities and maintain accuracy in a deadline-driven environment.
