Duties

  • Implements policies, standards, procedures and security method, and their applications.
  • Prepares local security operating procedures and supplements to agency personnel
  • Serves as the security focal point between government agencies, customers and contractors.
  • Prepares internal operating procedures for various assigned locations within the agency and ensures that they are in compliance with security regulations.
  • Maintains continuous contact with military intelligence, Federal Bureau of Investigations (FBI), Air Force Office of Special Investigations (AFOSI).
  • And Naval Criminal Investigative Service (NCIS) and local law enforcement in order to obtain the most current data available.

Qualifications

To qualify for a Security Specialist, your resume and supporting documentation must support: One year of specialized experience that equipped you with the competencies to successfully perform the duties of the position and is directly in, or related to, this position. To qualify for the NH-03 level, specialized experience must be at the NH-02 or GS-11 grade level or equivalent under other pay systems in the Federal service, military or private sector. Applicants must meet eligibility requirements including time after appointment, minimum qualifications, and any other regulatory requirements by the cut-off/closing date of the announcement. Creditable specialized experience includes: Applies a wide range of security requirements established by legislation, executive order, regulations, directives, and various policy statements, Develops policies and procedures to protect classified information. Conducts security inspections to ensure implementation of and compliance with requirements of the agency's information security program. Implements policies, standards, procedures, security methods and their applications. Prepares instructional training to agency personnel in regards to security concerns and protection in the interest of national security. Serves as the security focal point between government agencies, customers and contractors.

Education
