System Engineer - Program Lead

Job Description

A client of Insight Global is seeking a Mid to Senior-Level Systems Engineer to support the development, integration, and testing of advanced laser and beam control systems for a ground-based defense program. This role will partner closely with mechanical, electrical, optical, and software engineering teams to ensure successful system development and program execution.

The ideal candidate has hands-on experience with complex hardware systems, strong systems engineering fundamentals, and the ability to work across multiple technical disciplines. Candidates with prior leadership experience may have the opportunity to serve as the Systems Engineering Lead, providing technical direction and mentorship to other systems engineers on the program.

Skills and Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Physics, or a related technical discipline.
• 4-12 years of systems engineering experience supporting the development, integration, testing, and validation of hardware-based systems. Experience should include hands-on work with hardware components rather than solely requirements management.
• Proven ability to collaborate across multidisciplinary teams, including mechanical, electrical, optical, and software engineering, to define requirements, develop test plans, execute testing, and analyze results.
• U.S. citizenship required, with the ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) security clearance.
• Experience with MSBE tools, system requirements development/management, and system verification and validation. Innoslate or Cameo familiarity is a plus but not mandatory.
• Experience working with mechanical, electrical, optical, and software teams to develop, test, and field laser and/or beam control systems.
• Experience with high-powered lasers and laser safety protocols.
• Experience with prototype or low-rate productions systems.
• Experience executing large ACAT-1 or equivalent programs may be beneficial.
• Strong communication skills and ability to work in a collaborative team environment.
• Current & active US DoD security clearance
